X Games real ski 2020 hype/predictions

Street skiing is my favorite and I’ve spent the last 6 months day dreaming about the spots around my city. Now that the temps are dropping I can’t help but escalate my thoughts. One of the cooler things each season as far as street skiing goes is the X Games Realski video contest.

The last two years gold has been claimed by b-dog. Because first place gets an invite to return I imagine he’ll be participating again this year. I believe the fan favorite winner also gets a return invite so that mean we can expect Jake Mageau aka Mango to give it another go.

this leaves 4 spots open. Who do you guys think will get them? Will French Canadians continue to reign as the best street skiers. Will Scandinavia or an east coaster claim the top spot. All I know is it could be just bdog and mango and I’d be hyped for it.

It's just that he uses a bunch of slopestyle tricks in street skiing it's not my cup of tea. 2 bios is too much imo.

well he has made a successful living freestyle skiing through competitions and endorsements

some people can't stomach this, and say hes not "core"

Honestly, I think he's historically been scored pretty fairly in most comps. I'd love to see a specific event where I'm wrong, but obviously that's putting the onus on you to find the footage. I agree about being overlooked within the community, though - I think some people view him as a sellout, but I don't think there's much if any basis to that.

This recent xgames norway is a great example. Before that, not so sure. He's no more a sell out than Candide or Tanner were. They just do what they can to ski the most they can

I guess we just disagree, then. His rail game was maybe a bit underscored but his jumps just aren’t at the same level as the guys on the podium.

He did a blender dub and a dub with a 'pretzel flip' as the second flip. Definitely lower rotation but those technical touches put the difficulty way up. Who cares about rankings though, I only watch those comps for the skiing. Watched that whole big air comp and I remember all the standout tricks, but I already forgot the order of who was on the podium.
It's the same with real ski. Every year, any of the top three could take first, and all of them could be a podium. What makes it so great is that we get 9 minutes of the craziest street skiing ever.

I actually think his slope runs this x games were judged fairly, he laced up some awesome runs but he also had some bobbles and the jumps were average aside from dub switch 7. My problem comes mainly with a lot of his previous comps, he absolutely slays rails with some tricks that are practically on another level than most of the other riders. That should count for less impressive jumps. Historically we've seen many guys with weak rails podium because of their jump tricks why can't that happen in reverse?

The answer is style.
Some are able to distinguish style a bit easier than others. There has always been a Jesper in every generation of skiing. Perfect execution, unreal bag of tricks, extremely shy modest personality, all around great dude. But nothing sticks out therefor he is not one of the greats.
