2019 Line Sir Francis Bacon or Faction CT 3.0

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to get some feedback on to guide my decision between these two skis from last season.

I'm an all mountain skier, occasionally dabble in park, but... I'm also 31, so let's be real, I've got no real business in the park.

Looking for a one ski quiver that can hold up well on powder days, but can still noodle around in the air and in hard pack. Basically narrowed down to these two options but would love to hear what people think on the matter.

I personally know three different people who's CT skis didn't make it through last season due to manufacturer defects, severe delam being the main issue. For that reason I just can't see myself ever forking out for them.

Saying that, in one case, my friend put in a warranty claim and a brand new pair were delivered to his door in less than a week, didn't even have to return his old pair. That was amazing customer service.

Hopefully they've changed the manufacturing process or used different materials this summer.

Thanks guys - also at 6’2 do people recommend the 184 or 190 in these? Was leaning towards 190 but don’t want anything too cumbersome underfoot in the woods.

My dad is 6'1 and a long time ago was a racer. The CT 3 is his ski of choice and he loves em. #dadapproved

Get the 190cm.

Im 6.0ft and had 178cm 2017 Bacons, the only issue I had was they could be pretty unstable when charging hard as they're so damn light. The new model Bacons are, whilst wider, somehow even lighter, so I'm going for the 184cm this time.

1 I’m 36 and started park a year and a half ago I’m not a big rail guy but I’m going bigger every day so get in there ! I’m also an all mountain skier transitioning to free ride some freestyle 6’1 200ish

I’ll say that I am buying the new bacon and I’m waiting for the 190 and I expect it to ski very short , and it’s medium-soft imo and gonna b just super fun , I think the 184 would b good as well but I’m looking for extra float

where do You ski? If not in a place with decent snow this would b a dedicated pow ski , out east idk if I’ll even break em out 🤷🏼‍♂️

The Bacon is a lot softer than the Candide at about the same weight but it’s super playful and the convex tips and tails give it crazy good float for its width. It’s also has the same side cut as the Sakana if I remember right and that ski is the most fun I’ve had on groomers.

The CT 3.0 is is a little wider this year (112 underfoot vs 108) and it’s a pretty stiff ski for how light it is. It’s going to have a higher top end than the Bacon but be a little less playful. Still great in the air since they’re really balanced. Think how Candide skis since these are designed for him. I don’t have on snow experience with these as I do the bacons so I can’t say much else.

I suggest the 190 option for both

Never been on a ski with “ convex “ tips or horizon tech but I don’t see it adding float.... I see it allowing a ski to track thru pow better maybe starve a little better but need more surface area for more float right 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think I worded it wrong and you’re correct. I think the extra surface area might do something for float but I’m not entirely sure

The convex tips and horizon tech gives more float because there is more surface area than another ski of traditional tip design of the same tip width measurement

Touch decision to make. As much as I love LINE, I personally think that the CT 3.0's are much more versatile. They're just such a beast of a ski that can handle anything and they are super fast. I went against the bad reviews and went for them last season, definitely not disappointed and they've held up quite well. I guess you can't really go wrong with either ski though. Both are awesome.

Are you looking a the 1819 CT 3.o or the 1920?

Have people found the Bacons too soft at all? I know line skis can sometimes be Noodles. also looking at Armada ARV 106

The bacon isn’t blend soft, but it is substantially softer than the 3.0. The ARV is in between the Bacon and CT in terms of flex, but the CT will offer the most versatility. It skis way skinnier than 108 underfoot, you can lay train tracks on the groomers with it
