HOW TO SIZE TWIN TIPS??

I havent skied in awhile, but I know I can do it confidently so I would consider myself beginner-intermediate. I am 6'2 (188cm) about 180lbs, and am looking to buy some twin tips for the first time. What size should I get? My research so far shows maybe around 169-172cm? But I have seen some people saying upwards of 180 cm... any help?? Thanks!

If you're 6'2 you should at least be riding 180. I'd say 178 if must go lower, but between 180 and 186 would probably be good.

Also different skis that may have the same reported length can be slightly different real lengths and probably have different effective edge lengths (the length of the edge that actually carves in the snow)

180 + if you mount anywhere near center / ~-3 . If you never ridden a ski that long it may take a little getting used to but you'll thank yourself in the long run.

169 - 172 will be like riding a ski blade once you get more confident over your skis. Won't be able to handle your weight at high speeds etc. (Plus your tall and that would look silly :D)

It’s really all personal preference but at 6’2” and 180lbs you should really be riding a ski longer than 180cm at the very least. A longer ski provides more stability and if you’re skiing park, they’re less likely to break. If you’re a true beginner than a shorter ski is fine to learn on but once you get some skills and confidence under your belt, then a longer ski will be very beneficial.

always go longer cause the tip and tail taper
and cause it looks better

you'll overpower a shorter ski. like others have said get something 180 to 185.

I'm 5'10" 160 and run a 185 as my daily. I've been on 178 and even as short as 174 and they seem to top out in speed and stability pretty easy.

How long has it been since you last went skiing? And how good we're you when you stopped?

Been about 3 years... but when I stopped I was nothing shy of Simon Dumont.... haha jk, probably intermediate at best

You'll be fine on 180-185+...skiing comes back pretty fast, kinda like riding a bike. I took a much longer hiatus than you did, came back on some 170 Craigslist specials, went down to a 163 against the advice of most here, then went back up to 181 and now have a pair of 185s awaiting bindings in my garage. I'm 5'7 140lbs for reference.

I am 5'9 160 and I ski a 184 park ski and a 176 all mountain.

At your height I wouldn't touch anything under 180cm.

I'm 6', my first twins in high school were 174 Public Enemies and immediately felt too short even when I was like 140lb.
I'd imagine you'd be best in the 180-185 range.
I should say, the length matters yes but I think the bigger factor is simply what ski you're riding. A soft, heavily-rockered ski with tight turning radius is going to be easy to manage, but the same length of a stiffer, straighter ski could feel like a lot.

Line makes a lot of softer playful skis (Bacons could be a good choice depending where you ski and what kind of snow you get).
Worth doing some digging around to see what kind of ski fits the conditions you'll be riding it in, and then opt for one that isn't gonna kick your ass.

I'm 5'10 (177cm) and all my skis are 178cm+. my longest skis are the ar6 @183cm. I prefer longer skis cuz I just feel comfortable with lots of ski to work with/line choice
