Everyone has their own personal demons and yes, sometimes a hug is all you need.

I will say, I do run with a super rough crowd of motorcycle bikers and they say hi with a hand shake and hug each time as long as you are one of their homies/bros. Its not sexual in any way but a form of brotherhood, I have even noticed it more with my military friends too. Nothing wrong with a hug from your homie.
