Losing Skis

Im trying to develop a new product to stop skis getting lost.
It should...
1 - Prevent skis getting lost in deep powder
2 - Stop skis shooting off down the run
3 - Prevent rogue skis taking out other skiers
4 - Be lightweight
5 - Cause the user no more hastle than simply clicking into their bindings

Does anyone have any ideas of more requirements that the product could satisfy, ways this could be achieved, existing products that already do this?

Any ideas at all are appreciated!!!

As for #1, maybe like a surfboard leash or similar?

I've heard of people in japan tying a long bright ribbon around there binding brake, then shoving the ribbon up there pant leg. Cheap, effective and basically unnoticeable.

Definitely some type of leash. It should be either extra long or retractable. A good thing to look at would be ice climbing leashes because they are extra long and are made of a tough material. Or, magnets might work with a leash. Also make sure it has a emergency release like bindings do because last thing you want is you to get in a sammy carlson style crash and your skis not coming off.

tele bindings have a leash made of aircraft cable or something similar with a clip that attaches to the boot.

or if u wann be high tech, some type of bluetooth tracker that goes to ur phone some how
idk how that would work but it would be cool if it worked out

Powder straps? You don’t want anything tied to you too hard, if you get in an avalanche you don’t want your skis dragging you down.

Needs to be safe in the case of hard ejections. Like double ejections or tomahawks. A leash could be dangerous in those cases.

Pow ribbons have been a thing for years, same with leashes.

Leashes sound like the skis could fuck you up in a fall.

I thought about pow ribbons after searching for a ski for an hour on a deep day last season, but then I thought of how fuckin dorky I'd look forgetting them and havin' them strewn about any time I'd unclick my skis

Going off the avy tracker idea even just a remote that you can hit a button and the skis make a high frequency noise or something where you could hear it and track it down. Usually if a ski comes off it won't go deep/far enough away for it to be out of range for hearing, especially somewhere as quiet as the backcountry

2 and 3. Prevent ski from shooting down run and taking out other skiers.


Also crank your dins and stop falling.

If you make it so it snaps with enough force, then in a hard impact or avalanche, the skis still come off, but for slow crashes they remain attached
