Which is more based, nopoles or twin tips

I feel like for nopolers theres a sort of an acquired taste niche that may be a never-crashing wave because not everybody appreciates nopole style. I think part of the reason ns died is because newschool skiing isnt news to anybody anymore. But the point of this thread is to ask if you think nopoles is sort of like the new twin tips.

I don't use poles because i'm sick of breaking hands/fingers. But, I feel like its way more acceptable to ski without poles now than it was a few years ago...Wouldnt say its a new twintip or type of skiing tho.

Most definitely, I feel like the minority skiing with poles anymore. Also would have to agree with it being much more accepted — I remember a constant bashing against those who didn’t use em in the 09-12’ ish era. I even had a hard time getting used to watching it in edits. It’s the norm now though & it definitely shouldn’t bother anyone.

That does depend on where you ski, I mean in terms of resort. Here in Panorama Canada 95%++ of skiers use poles but that's because we have a big race scene here (sucks I know)

no poles is so fucking dumb with any kind of flat/speed issues.

In the park ive used both and find no poles better. Poles to the ribs suck, and can hurt wrists, while no poles let's you grab easier, anywhere outside of the park I will use poles

This except I also think poles help my balance on rails and awkward features so it's always hard to decide

Nopoles def is harder, because of what you mentioned about balance. But if you have alot of practice and heavy forearms you can still rock nopoles and keep it steezy

i snowboarded before i started skiing. as a result i always found riding without poles felt so much more natural, but thats just me personally

That’s why I eat @ Popeye’s Louisiana kitchen for every meal. Best method outside of masturbation for improving the density of your forearms. In just 2 months I began to look like a highschool lunch lady

uhh get in shape/learn to skate and it's not that big of a deal. I almost always ski with poles bc I like them for balance but imo learning rail tricks with no poles will make you better at them/improve balance. I also think there's something to be said for increased risk of injury when using poles. A kid died at USASA nationals a few years ago because he landed sideways and took a pole grip right to the side of the head. It's not like dudes are traversing gnarly shit out of bounds with no poles, and if they are, then I would only then agree with your point, but at the end of the day, you get to ski however the fuck you want.

I think using shortish poles is a good middle ground.

I’d really disagree there. Though I use relatively short poles, it’s way easier to stab yourself in the torso, where longer poles mostly put your legs at risk of getting stabbed in a gnarly fall.
