SavageBiffHow’s everyone store their skis ? I think I need a better way.... they lay on their sides on this bench on their sides
mystery3Storage wax, heels up, bases together laying flat on some of those long flat foam rubber covered garage storage hooks in the shed. Less than ideal but I have limited space to deal with.
Rum_Hamput wax on but don't scrape, drop the dins to lowest setting, then they lean against the wall in my room topsheets up so i can look at them.
SavageBiffI like this as I like to look at em but I heard it’s not the best to stand them on tips or tails ??? Plus one of my kids , cat or dog will knock em over then I’m going jail for child and or animal abuse 😩
SavageBiffSounds like mine ,in my garage on workbench , bases together on their sides it’s just every time I pass by I’m like man they deserve better
What u mean heels up ? Bindings I guess? I lower the tension on me springs too
mystery3Yeah, heels up on the bindings, I usually don't bother setting the DINs at minimum.
I know the temperature variance in my shed is not great but I don't have anywhere to put them in the house, save for the attic which would be even hotter, and I don't have a/c anyway. The shed is in the shade of the house in the afternoon and has windows so while it gets hot it doesn't get that hot.
How long do you expect a pair of skis to last? I probably won't keep them for more than 4-5 years and they'll likely be fine.
OregonDeadLean them in a corner and they are less likely to fall on your pet. Also you can put the tails in a rubbermade tub and then the dog is less likely to run into them. Never had a pair go down and I usually have 5 or 6 pairs leaning against the wall.
I don't know who came up with the storage wax idea but I bet they sold wax. What a racket if you can get people to come in and pay to have their DINs turned down and wax slathered on in the spring and then come back again in the fall to have their bindings reset and a new "tune" for the season.
oldmanskiI have limited space in my garage and house so I built a rack to hold and hang 6 pairs on the wall. I live next to Hood so they are never really ever put away for storage.
SavageBiffI live about 30 miles from the closest “ hood “
SavageBiffI live about 30 miles from the closest “ hood “ lol it’s summer in pa and this is crunch time so I unfortunately put em away this time of year I wanna move out west so bad
OregonDeadStep one = develop a ski treatment that is tomato phobic so that ketchup slides right off.
Step two = liberate all of the ketchup from the Heinz factory and cover the town.
Step three = ski sesh in Pittsburgh on some of the sickest urban terrain around.

onenerdykidBut in all fairness, putting a summer coat of wax on your skis does keep them in good shape until next winter (provided they are "clean" and tuned before you seal them up in wax. No point doing this to dirty skis). And when you get ready for your next ski day, you will definitely have fast skis.
I used to just keep my skis piled up in a corner in my basement, but then I went and got super adult on them:

runforlove2018I'm totally copying this idea
oldmanskiSounds like you may be a little too close to that “hood”,lol. And it sounds as if Oregondead has a good idea....... come on out, plane ride, bus, car, bike, get over here!
SavageBiffI’ll be driving out there in January exploring everything I can out west for 4 to 5 weeks
