Typically, when I head out to ski I plan to be on the mountain all day. Here's how I usually load up my vehicle
1. skiis (duh)
2. flask - pass the bourbon please
3. camelbak hydration backpack
4. waterproof headphones
5. extra socks
6. change of clothes
7. cooler for water and sandwich stuff (unless I plan to eat at the lodge)
8. wallet and season pass
9. boots
10. poles
11. goggles
12. camera
13. Fleece or Northface pullover depending on the weather
14. ski pants
15. coat
16. gloves
17. snacks: pretzels, cheese sticks, reese's
18. my ski squad (usually my brother or sisters)
I definitely think it makes a difference having all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and probably seat heaters for your ride up to the slopes. Slick roads are no fun--and neither is having a cold butt. What are your skiing essentials? Anyone have any good packing hacks?

Some of that Cali grade medical and a glass piece. Maybe a blanket to throw over my white hoodie if it gets cold

Solid list. I'd add sunglasses, a portable charger for the inevitable dying phone.....and.....a deck of cards and/or dice just in case the lifts get shut down or something.

Having a 4wd driving up to the mountain makes little to no difference compared to a 2wd from a safety standpoint. The added traction helps to start in deep snow or if you get stuck in deep snow (or in any kind of soft terrain) but if you're on the road it won't help much with sliding or lack of adherence while driving on icy roads. What does though, is having a good set of winter tires. 4wd doesn't hurt and can help if you get stuck or even just leaving the driveway after it dumped 20 inches overnight, but my point is that from a safety standpoint the tires matter more than the drive train.

Booster straps straight up made me, also thats funny i always put spiced rum in my flask aswell.. 10-4 good buddy
I put everything on except my boots then put my gloves in a pocket and car key, defogger cloth and wallet in the other so I never forget anything. And grab skis boots poles on the way out. If it below 20° I put a hand warmer in my pocket. And always bring clear goggles in case I stay for night skiing so two pair of goggles on my head .

Good tires are very important but a 4wd going uphill on slick roads is much safer. Can't tell you how many times I've gone into an aggressive fishtail when I forget to take my truck out of 2wd on slick hills. It can be game over if you get stuck in traffic going up hill on ice with 2wd/bad tires
4×4=no stopping and putting chains on when required then stopping on the way back and taking them off.

Sure, I'm not arguing that 4wd provides some advantages, but I just believe anyone driving ice-snow covered roads regularly in the winter should get a good set of winter tires. I drive a 4wd with winter tires but I'd take a 2wd with winter tires over a 4wd with all season tires from a safety standpoint. I would also recommend a 4wd to someone regularly driving on snow-covered roads during winter, but to me from a safety standpoint, good winter tires should still be the first requirement is all I'm saying.

always gotta have the cart, some spliffs, and the juul. then comes the phone and money if im buying lunch, usually i just bring $20 cash so I don't have to worry about losing my wallet. aside from that I just bring the essentials and an extra pair of socks for after if I remember em

4wd+good tires>2wd+good tires>4wd+"all seasons">2wd+"all seasons". Do you put extra weight in the bed of your truck though?
