TwigTo a degree, yes, in terms of not catching an edge, because catching an outside edge is less likely (though I've definitely managed it). However, leaving an edge sharp makes them much more likely to crack, even an outside edge, and by not switching your skis from foot to foot, you are pretty much halving the lifespan of your edges.
