360 vs Action Cam

So i'm saving up for a good camera to start filming meself and my buddies at the park and around the mtn. I've been filming on my phone and some cheap ripoff gopro (lmao) so at first i was thinking bout getting the osmo mobile 2 aka a gimbal for my phone. But then I was like why not just get a stabilized gopro? So i had my eyes on the GoPro Hero 7 right? BUT THEN I saw that the Insta 360 One X costs about the same as the hero 7!

SO IN CONCLUSION. Fellow skiers, which do u think is worth the purchase. GoPro Hero 7 Black or the Insta 360 One X?

I'm hoping to film my friends and vice versa as a follow cam, also i'm thinking about getting shots of myself as well like on an extension pole or smth idk. Lemme know y'all 🤘

the only high quality 360 I've seen is made by GoPro, and it's expensive. All the others advertise 2k quality but to make the upload and download speeds worth while the footage is compressed to hell and back and looks like a Android. BUY THE HERO 7, ITS IMPRESSIVE

Like they seem crisp but are kinda grainy in reality. I dont like the color with or without color correction, too many blues and whites. and yeah u can fix this but honestly if u have a newer iphone it has stabilization, true color, and u can easily get it to a laptop or something. Also iphone edits generally are faster which for instagram or whatever is more popular.

see now you've got a point... and now i'm wondering if i should save $400 and buy the osmo mobile 2 gimbal for my phone instead.. what do u think

ye the quality is pretty bomb tho, and personally, along with some friends, I enjoy iPhone 8 shots way more than go pro. id save for a stabilizer but I don't think a 400 dollar one is necessary. Also, With unstablized iPhone clips u can stabilize them in most editing softwares on mac or pc. (imovie, final cut , premier

ye save ur money buy some swag stuff and buy the stabilizer id say. A lot of ppl like go pro tho so dont mean to put u down if you want one.

yea i mean i agree with u that iphone footage looks nicer than gopro footage but sake of carrying it around aside, doesn't it look a little silly doing follow cam with a phone, gimbal and an extension pole?

Doesn’t really matter how it looks to other ppl just that u get cool shots and put out dope ass edits

Yea 360 cams are kinda pointless unless you have a hella powerfull pc that can handle all the extra pixels and the insane amount of editing you have to do. That being said if your comfortable spending hours finding the right segment of the video and know how to get the right angles, 360 footy can look super nice. Especially since its a different perspective from the rest of the clips out there

I actually do have a beefy pc and yea i wouldn't mind spending time into perfecting my footage, but is the insta 360 one x alright? Or should i try to save up for the gopro fusion?

Get a Hero 7. I film with that and a DSLR, and it's your best bet over a 360 cam or a DSLR.

I have no experience with the 360 one x and I don't know anyone who has one but it seems to be alright. It looks like it has all the features of the fusion just at a different price point. If I were you I would try and find some unbiased reviews from people who actually use the 360 one x before dropping $400 on it (which is kinda a lot for an action cam in my opinion). However, GoPro is always a safe bet as they make nice products and have good customer service.
