SkylineGTR_R32Don’t get caught up in stereotypes. Subarus do not blow up by any means. The only persistent problem with Subaru’s are the head gaskets. With that said if you aren’t hooning it 24/7 then that shouldn’t be a problem. Subaru’s get a bad wrap because of the people driving them, not the car itself. With reasonable care a Subaru will last you a long time. I drove a 97 M3 sedan once and it was a very very fun car to drive but the owner says he spends about 4K in parts a year just to keep it running smoothly. He mostly keeps it in his garage and drives it on sunny days just for fun. Oh and his daily is a WRX.
My track car is an e36 m3. Dead reliable so far even with 217k on the original engine. I’ve worked in a shops and seen head gaskets, cracked blocks, cracked rings, and blown up transmissions from Subaru’s more than anything else. I had a friend blow 2 stock motors, 1 built motor, and 2 transmissions in 2 years. Only making 330whp
