I was skiing at sunapee 3 weeks back when I was ambushed getting off the lift by 8 fucking ski patrollers. They made a circle around me and demanded my pass. When I asked what it was all about the guy in charge declined to tell me until showed him my pass immediately getting pissed and raising his voice. I took it out of my pocket and showed it to him and asked again what the hell was going on. He claimed that he and another patroller had witnessed me ducking ropes for the last two weeks (complete bullshit) and they recognized my sweatshirt (just a black sweatshirt). I told him "no you didn't see me duck a rope". He took the pass out of my hand and asked me if I knew what the Vail resorts policy was on losing a pass and I told him I did not. He told me that it was a minimum 2 week suspension and that I could pick up my pass at ski patrol after that. The conversation went on for a minute or so and ended up with him threatening to pull my pass for the rest of the season because I was shaking my head at him. I was pissed by the way they handled it and the fact that 8 people were needed to talk to me. I submitted a written statement of what happened to customer service and later to management just to have my side of the story on the record.
Fast forward 3 weeks to this weekend and I walk into to ski patrol at about 10 in the morning, introduce myself to the head of ski patrol and tell him that I was told I could pick up my pass there. He immediately tells me that he got my statement and that there is no such thing as a minimum 2 week suspension and that I wasnt told any such thing. Then before I can answer he says that Vail policy is that I have to watch a 27 minute video before they can return my pass to me and that they dont have time to do it that day because there is a ski race going on. I told him that all I was told was that I could pick up my pass here in two weeks. He ends up losing his shit and yelling at me that I have to watch the fucking video and that I have to set up an appointment to do so because they dont have the time to do it. And then goes on to say that he has a bunch of complaints from his ski patrollers about me complaining about Vail fucking up the mountain (which is true) and how he doesnt even have to give me the pass back. I ended up just turning around and walking out mid way through his tirade before I felt inclined to hit the fucking guy. I went back to the customer service desk and told them I wanted to see the GM because this was getting out of hand.
I ended up sitting down with the GM and telling him pretty much the exact same story as told above. I explained I didn't give a shit about my pass being taken but the way both ski patrollers I spoke to had acted was fucking ridiculous. I asked him to just tell me how I could get my pass back and I'd be on my way. He said he would speak with ski patrol and get back to me as soon as possible.
The next day (today) I show up to the customer service desk and tell the guy that ski patrol told me I needed to set up an appointment to watch a video and asked him if he could find out how I could do it because theres no way in hell I'm going back to talk to those peices of shit. He gives ski patrol a call and tells them the situation. The patroller on the other end of the line says that they need a 24hour notice for the appointment, they dont have time today, and that the GM had contacted me to tell me that (he did not)...
ended up getting a day ticket and skiing and when I get to the top of the lift, theres 6 fucking ski patrollers sitting on their asses sunbathing outside the lift shack... no time my ass
