Which Size of k2 Poachers?

Get the 184s lol...

EDIT: I forgot K2s run truer to size than most skis. You could go either way, I'm your height and I own a pair of 179cm K2 Domains and they are the same height as my 182 Vishnu Wets. Both are about the same height as me but maybe 1-3 cm smaller. Either way the 177s are gonna be a bit small and the 184s are going to be a bit tall. I'd go 184s still though but it just depends on what you prefer. You'll look way better on 184s, especially if you can control them.

Also if you're looking for playful skis I personally wouldn't go with Poachers as they are your typical stiff slopestyle/all mtn park ski. I'd get something with more rocker myself but with where you live I get why you want Poachers. Do you have demos available near you? K2 Poachers are really common skis at demos.

Thank you for your answer, as for different skis, I researched alot, and I just cant resist this offer so im gonna go with the poacher.
I know i should probably demo them, but i read that they are quite poppy, and they develop some flex once they are ridden a few days, so i think ill be fine with them.
What would be the benefits of the 184 except for looking better?
Right now i ride an old Salomon q90 in size 169, i like the twitchyness but i know its way too short for me.
For general, should twin tips be bought bigger or same size/ smaller as the person?

the general rule of thumb is right around your height, then add in factors like skill level, style, preferences, etc. For a solid skier a park ski should be right around your height, maybe a tiny bit less. if it's all mtn i say your height is the ticket. and if youre hitting big shit, for a charging/BC ski you might go over your head by a bit

so you're like right around 180cm, but youre a little lighter than your height might expect. K2s also run a little long i think, so that 177 is almost 180cm if i had to guess

i think you should go with your gut because either one will work fine. but i'd say do the 177 because it's almost your height anyway, you're light, you're not a super established skier (no offense, just assuming since youre asking for size advice), you're coming from smaller skis, and the poachers are relatively stiff and solid.

and honestly i'm a huge fan of bigger skis (and everyone online is gonna big-dick it without fail and say to go big) but it's honestly easier to make a slightly short ski work than a slightly long ski. and going big on size is the kind of thing you do because you know your shit and know that you want or need more length.

i'd probably mount at recommended mount point too btw, since you said this will be a one-ski quiver and you don't want to have too-short noses when you're in soft snow. people on here always say to mount center but that's honestly not worth it at all unless you ski 100% park and youre going switch like literally half that time

my 177 poachers measured just under 180 by a couple millimeters

at your weight i would go 177, with the stiffness of that ski you will still get the stability you need. Carney is running the 177 now and he weighs more then you and probably goes bigger then you, me and basically everyone else.

I am 165 pounds, 5'9" and I prefer the 177. I usually ride 180+ park and all mountain skis and 190+ pow skis. But in this case the shorter one is more fun in my opinion. I am on to my third pair of poachers. greatest ski of all time.

Things like butters, rails, and grabs (especially mutes and tail grabs) just look steezier with longer skis. It's a bummer they don't make them in like a 180cm so you can really go either way. If you're worried about controlling them go smaller. If you're comfortable on longer skis go longer. It's really a preference thing and that's why you see people like HH running long skis and people like Jesper riding shorter ones. It also depends on your style, where you ride, and how you mount them. People who center mount usually go longer for example.

yeah i forgot to mention, sometimes people mount a little closer to center for a purpose kinda equivalent to "choking up" on a baseball bat. with less ski in front of your toes, a too-big ski can be more manageable. i don't think that's the move here for OP, 177 seems like the easy choice here, but it's a thing yeah

Lol I didn't see he was a skeleton wtf I'm his height and I weight 180 and I'm not fat at all. I could lose maybe 5 pounds top without being unhealthy... I personally would go 184 but ya with his weight I can see 177s. I wouldn't say it's an easy choice though, he's right in the middle of those two skis. Are the Poachers really that much longer than the Domains? I know they have more camber but really that much? My 179 Domains aren't even past my head, they're up to my eyebrows about. That's without shoes or boots on btw.

memory test on me here but i believe the recommended mount point on the Poacher is -5 (from true center) and most people i know seem to agree that +2 or +3 (from recommended; meaning -2 or -3 from true center) is best. i'm a huge fan of mounting between recommended and center...IMO that's the "best of both worlds" move

What’s your skill level, what kind of riding do you do mostly, what skis are you coming from?

Also FYI I can’t remember if poachers are definitely like this but generally k2 skis seem to run long, like a 170 will straight tape pull to like 173cm on a lot of their models

I'm an advanced level, similar goals to the original post, looking for a one ski quiver. I'm coming from a 170 park ski, so hoping the poacher will give me more on the mountain.

Yeah you might want to keep looking for the answer to that question but if I had to guess it is the case with poachers. Which would mean they’re like exactly your height which is perfect, and poachers have a backbone so they’ll handle you just fine. I say 170s unless youre skiing only all-mountain and you like bigger skis
