I do it for added aerodynamics if you are on a catwalk or trying to get across to a lift and any bit of drag means another push or skate at the bottom.

For speed mang. I'm not sure what is going on in your picture though. Looks like homeboy is breaking trail. I guess nordic guys are all about the aerodynamics so that kinda makes sense though.

As said before it makes catwalks faster. Both arms behind back+lean forward a lot is way more comfortable than a tuck for picking up and maintaining speed

I do it for speed. Either this or I do that thing where you sit down on the back of your skis. That's only if I'm really in a hurry. I also sometimes do this when I finish a spin or from landing off a feature, but I kinda whip my arm. It's like getting rid of the kinetic energy from skiing man I don't fuckin know
