Whats the biggest/most complicated thing youve ever fixed/repaired?

I replaced a broken latch in the bowels of my switch joy con controller. You couldnt even see what kind of screws they were bc they were so small.
Other than that I jerry rigged a huge clamp with L beams to fix my bball rim that sheared off.

A house would be the biggest and a modern car would be the most complicated.

I've also performed intricate surgeries to repair something called a cassette tape (Google it if it doesn't sound familiar) many times in the past, that was probably the most delicate thing I've repaired.

Weird. I never had to give super nintendo or n64 cartridges the blow job. Only ones i needed to blow on were regular NES games.
Did you have alot of dust in your house or something?

Never had one but used to play it at a friends and whenever the game screwed up we just blew into it and it fixed

I did the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs on a Subaru boxer engine with the engine still in the car. I was basically upside down in the engine bay worming the damn valve cover back on. 10,000 miles later I had to get the engine pulled anyway for head gaskets.

Fucming boxer head gaskets are such a pain. My friends can’t even push their subies without fear of blowing them.

What kind of subaru? Arent subarus reliable as fuck?

Overall yes, but 2nd gen Impreza models (RS, WRX, and STI from 2000 - 2007) are notorious for head gasket problems after about 100,000mi. I had a used '02 for a while and head gasket failed at about 120,000mi, right on cue.
Just like SuspiciousFish's car, valve cover gaskets leaking oil onto the ignition wires/sparkplugs was the warning sign, a couple months before the impending head gasket failure.

If you're in the market for a used one, buy a newer model or ask for proof that head gasket has already been replaced.

Sharko gave a good answer to this one but yeah Subarus in my experience have been really reliable. I have a 2006 Impreza 2.5i that I have owned since 2008 (Now at 158,000 miles) and really the only things its needed are occasional CV axle boots, the 100,000 mile timing belt and of course head gaskets. All in all thats about $2,500 in repairs over 10 or so years. There have been other stuff like a wheel bearing, bent strut tower etc but that has been from me tossing it on dirt roads and abusing the e-brake etc. The other nice thing is a lot of suspension and wheels etc can be swapped from 2002 to 2007 and across the WRX and 2.5i models (Sti not so much) so there are always tons of ebay and craigslist parts.

I was 13 and blew up my quad's motor, top and bottom end, to make matters worse. Tore the whole thing apart having no prior knowledge of mechanics or engines. Took me about 2 weeks to do, but that 2 weeks was spending hours on end each day researching shit and learning, then applying it to the motor. I replaced the whole top end, valve train included, and re built a crank and transmission by myself. For me that was one of the coolest things I did in my childhood. I was so proud of myself, not to mention my parents were too. Gotta say I'm really glad I blew it up. It paid off in tons of mechanic knowledge and now I know the ins and outs of a Motor. God I loved those 2 weeks.

I'm not sure you can honestly say that any car doesn't have "any" reliability issues, but yes overall Subarus are quite reliable.
To put it in perspective, Toyota has a reputation for building some of the most reliable cars in the world. They actually share a factory in Gunma with Subaru, both of the Imprezas I owned were built there. If they're coming from the same building, built by the same hands, I've got to think their quality is similar.

My '03 only ever had the gasket problems discussed above, and one other repair (cv boot if I remember right). Technically it went to the shop 1 other time, but that was because a squirrel hid a stash of nuts in the accelerator cable compartment. They obstructed movement of the cable, so you could only push the pedal down a tiny bit, and the car would only go 15mph. My mechanic identified the problem immediately and did not charge me anything. I feel like this doesn't count as a reliability issue.

My 2013 has only been to the shop once for a minor issue. A sensor connected to the transmission got damaged and it was hard shift out of park. It still got me to work on time and the censor was replaced for like $150.

Built an e36 m3 track car from the ground up except the cage. Solid axle swapped a 96 f150 when I was 15 in my parents drive way.

The most frustrating car I’ve ever worked on was an Austin healey 3000. Absolute peice of shit, nothing fit without massaging and everything broke taking it apart.

wasn't really a fix but in our condo in N.H for the winter my mom wanted netflix but the tv couldn't run it/ wasn't a smart tv and being the outside of the box thinker I am i brough up a thunderbolt-hdmi cable to mirror her computer on the tv so she could watch her tv

I troubleshooted and rewired a commercial bulk carrier ship's cargo crane. Saved my company thousand of dollars. Think that one was outstanding. Did a lot of wiring jobs, welding the haul and cargo holds... still not allowed to change a lightbulb in my apartment unit without permission. sheez
But with my job, repairing and rigging is a requirement. Thats the life of a marine engineer.

I actually love working with electricity and circuits. Its a thought intensive job when you are troubleshooting, but its clean, relaxed work. Plus there is the "extreme" factor of accidents that will kill you if your not careful. Assembly jobs suck. Those ones are the tedious ones.

Electrical theory is another game though. Its important to understand what you are doing. However the math is as crazy as it gets. Luckly, I dont design stuff; I fix it... or at least make it useable until the ship gets back to civilization.

And fun fact: Electricians actually spend most of their time drilling holes and passing wires.
