How to tell if you are a mediocre skier

I pick some pretty gnarly lines on the hill
I always get hoops and hollers especially when I send too hard and crash
I can shred double blacks
I once made it onto Mt Hood Meadows website and am shooting to be on the trail map soon (goalz)
I can send 3’s and 5’s with various grabs including but not limited to Blunt, Safety, Stalefish, Mute, And Japan
Can’t really do any good jib tricks (I was fortunate to grow up out west where our superior Parks are not the only option)

I still feel like I am not the best skier on the mountain and I fact I feel like everyone else on the mountain is just as skilled or more skilled (especially the little shits on the freestyle team) and it really makes me feel indifferent, not unique, not SENDY enough,

I feel like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho.

What seperates the die hard pros and shredders from the mediocrity? What are they doing that makes them so not mediocre

Being thankful you can even ski is a good start, just enjoy being on the mountain with so many awesome people! Then you won't worry about being better than them

can't tell if this is a joke, if it is, it isn't really funny, and if it isn't no offense but yeah your mediocre, 3s and 5s in this day and age are nuthin, even doubles are nothing. you're kind of a no name until you can triple or have super nice/difficult dubs. (not talking about rails cause you don't seem to care abut them, which I get)
Skiing is at a cool and sort of crummy point where people are so good that we all suck in comparison but get to watch sick shit

Can’t tell if this is just a “tell me I’m cool!/humblebrag” thread by OP. Who clearly doesn’t hit rails cause they’re obviously for pussies.

Also I’d say wrong. Plenty of the illest skiers out ive never even seen toss a double. Let alone a triple I mean fuck. You think crews that spend all their time in the streets are mediocre cause they’re not throwing technical doubles and triples off comp jumps?

thats not making you look better than you are, that is showing skill, but not for park.

Since its freeskiing, being a good skier is kinda dope. If you look at a kid doing triples who sw pizza's into rails, and a kid doing smooth lines on a rail park or jump line who got that finesse, it's not a comparison who I want to watch.

very true, but I did mention I wasn't talking rails. Urban is fucking gnarly, but still, there a big difference between 2ing on to an urban dfd or something and doing a 360 with Japan on a park jump. if were talking about park, you're good when you can do 4s on and lip 2s and difficult pretzels and big spins and jumps, well dubs, or at the very least really clean singles on each axis. Good is really good these days. And obviously all of this depends on the mountain where you ski but there are way too many people who think they are the shit cause they are "the best" at their local hill. When I ski my home mountain I feel like a god, when I ski Okemo I feel really good, when I ski carinthia, I feel like a noob most days. It just be like that. Its dope to have people that are better than you to look up too.

And for all those who are just gonna say "if you do a front 2 or a cork 7 or something with style you're good," save it. IMO that's such a bad mentality, props to anyone who is trying to learn bigger tricks. A lot of times you will not prefect your smaller tricks until you have bigger ones down. if a kid can send a double, even if its ugly, let him. stop trying to tell people how to ski.

Well, those who are above medicore arent trash talking rail skiers online while simeltaneously admitting they cant ski rails, they ski however the fuck they want to and dont give a shit how anyone thinks their skiing looks, and they get corked of course.
