Alright NS,

Im bored here at work so I've got a thread idea.... Everyone gets to create their own Jerry.

Please include everything in their kit

Including:

-Skis
-Clothing/Outerwear Style
-Goggles
-Boots
-Gloves
-Accessories

and anything else that comes to mind.

After enough entries we will have a vote as to which Jerry is the WORST skier on the mountain.

ButteredToast.Idk man I got a lot of oldhead buddies that absolutely rip and still wear Saga because it’s what was in style when they were big park skiers.

Also I still wear Saga and I SHREDDDDD 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad skier wearing saga... maybe dudes with poor technique that ski too much park but certainly not jerries


I'm from central IL so a lot more bad than good skiers. I'm not saying that saga or full tilt are bad but it just seems there are a lot more gapers riding that stuff than there were when I started skiing in 2008. Back when I started it seemed like only experienced park rats were riding that stuff but I may be wrong.

ButteredToast.Anyone pizza bombing anything

that one kid trying to rip while skiing horribly backseat and unintentionally busting wheelies when he hits moguls and almost dying

Skis: rentals or old line skis
boots: nondescript black boots with red buckles (why are they always red?)
outerwear: plain black bibs with a high school hoodie, or camo jacket
goggles: cheap black goggles with orange lenses
accessories: small backpack with a “COME AND TAKE IT” gun patch on it and a punisher logo patch, Bluetooth UE Boom speaker (the cylinder ones) obnoxiously carabiner’d to the backpack blasting butt rap

The beginner who got past death pizza ( I love that term!) and is now tucking and bombing blues and greens with poles tucked up under the armpits so high that the ends stick way up in the air and way out to the side.
I saw a lady this past weekend wearing what looked like yoga pants.

It comes from a basic desire to tuck without any awareness for pole position

most people don’t realize you lead a tuck with your hands out front so instead they bring their hands waaay in toward their chest while tucking their poles under their pits which leads to the wacky waving pole antennas

I use to hate going with my dad to craigslist meetups. But hey, he got me hooked and now I love it, and working hard has made it so I can afford nice ass gear cause Im pretty thrifty otherwise. Its just the difference between a white and blue collar kid. On this website, it is pretty obvious who is who. I don't think some users on here will ever have to actually work hard, and that's okay, but their tone reeks of privilege and they just will never know it.

I was told by someone once that the reason they do that is because the bridge of their nose is a lot flatter and normal goggles leave a big gap there where air blasts them in the eyeballs.

he said he wears them upside down because they fit better.

There are also “Asian Fit” goggles available to accommodate what I’m talking about.

That's true too. My parents did well for themselves growing up and we took ski vacations from Connecticut to brighton so I certainly had it better than a lot of people. I guess I'm a bit spoiled now because I have a decent job but I spent a full summer washing dishes 8 hours a day and cleaning out a filthy disgusting dishwasher twice a day during that span back when I lived on a kibbutz in Israel. Also that was for no pay apart from having a place to live on the kibbutz. During those 3 years I lived in a dorm with 4 other guys to a room 30 by 10 feet so all those experiences certainly helped remind me that I'm lucky to be where I am now in salt lake city. Pic related but you have to climb into the steamy smelly food waste covered dishwashing cavity and scrub the insides of the thing

Thats pretty gnarly man. Definitely wasnt insinuating you are one of those people. Im a cook among other things, so i have done alot of nasty kitchen work.

Yeah I hate that BS. If you are trying to send I will support that regardless of skill level.

Park can be super intimidating to get into because of everyone’s gigantic egos. Kinda bums me out when people are mean to kids trying to get into park. The best thing you can do is be helpful and friendly. I see a lot of hate here and both IRL on kids who have nice gear from others who believe they don’t “deserve” it because they don’t ski hard enough.

Right? I have people yell shit at me all the time in sarcastic ways. Sorry I took 5 years off from skiing and I have a job that allows me to buy decent gear. Yeah I have Vishnu Wets and I'm in the park but majority of the time I'm just following my little brother to help give him advice. I know more about the sport and appreciate the hell out of it. I also once was a pretty okay skier. These are probably the same kids hating on eheath and acting like he's not a huge reason the sport is what it is.

The term "Gaper" has evolved reading the entirety of this thread. We've just about covered it all from brands, to specific colors, to specific accessories, to specific style, and social worth. I thought the term was born from attitude and behaviors on the slopes, with the exception of wearing jeans to complete the term.
