Getting to lines with a dirt bike

I live in Colorado and there’s a few big lines I have my eyes on for the spring but the hike just to the base of the mountain is 5 miles up a Jeep trail I ride my dirt bike on in the summer. So if you can’t tell where I’m going with this, I wanna strap my skis to my dirt bike to get to the base of the mountain and climb from there. Anyone have any ideas on a Jerry rig or would it be better to put them in my backpack A frame?

I'd personally just throw them on your backpack. Otherwise just take some bungees and zip-ties and strap them onto the rear fender or something.

Gun rack can work. I’ve also seen snowboard bindings work. This is to strap them to the machine.

Seen them both used on sleds. I used to use similar method on my sled and worked fine.

If you're just riding down a road that isn't very tough I would just put them on your backpack before figuring out a rack system, if it's not like sledding where you have to actually be able to handle a sled to get to the skiing. Your boots might be trickier, are you planning on riding your dirtbike with your ski boots? If so, be careful, my sled rails wore a hole through my favorite boots. Might not be too bad, MX boots are stiff AF. I would suggest strapping your boots together and dangling one over each side and wearing something more comfortable.

I'd just use long volie ski straps or the equivalent and just strap them to the top tube or whatever you call it on a motorbike. Look up how guys do this with e-bikes and mountain bikes. It seems like that would be way easier than trying to ride trails and get on and off your bike with a heavy bag with your skis in it. Also less wind on the skis if they are on the top tube than on your bag with the tips above your head. I saw a guy in Mammoth use the A frame method with a dirt bike though and it seemed fine. There was a guy there with a mono-board guy there on the same day that used a rack for on the side of his Harley.

My biggest concern with strapping them on your back is if you snagged a tree branch and it ripped you off the bike.

I've used my dirtbike in the winter a bunch for getting around, sometimes with skis. I find it best just to stuff them in your crotch and let them rest over the middle of the handlebars. keeps them out of your way and works well- all the way until you have to put your feet down.

Just wear your skis while riding the dirtbike. It'll be a bitch to shift but you'll be good. On a different note, you could try using a backpack of some sort for your skis.
