UPDATE- I have decided on the Attack. I now just need to decide on weather to get the 13 or 11. Is the 13 a lot more durable?

I’m looking at getting a new set of bindings pretty soon and need your help! I’m looking for a binding that is great for big mountain and everything all mountain including throwing some minor jumps and rails into the mix. I’m around 5’ 4” and 100 pounds so I’m pretty light. I’m looking for a binding that is also relatively light but will be strong and good in the conditions I will be skiing. If any of you guys could help me out that would be great and if you have a relatively new pair for sale please hit me up! Thanks in advance

I’ve always gone pivot 14 just because of how solid the connection is. No slop at all in those bad boys. You might not need the 14s though depending on how hard you ride. You could go 12.

take out the marker friffon not nearly as good as those other bindings, i really love my look pivots and would suggest those.

ok thanks, is there any other bindings you think are worthy to be on this list? also do you know of anywhere to get some pivots for cheap?

I had an older pair of STH bindings before I got my Rossi FKS/Look Pivots and this happened to me on Corbets Couloir




Bad spot for that to happen. For that reason I don’t trust Salomon bindings anymore. I know the pair I had became notorious for the toe pieces tearing off but I don’t know if they’ve fixed it since then. Someone else might know better, I haven’t paid attention to Salomon bindings in a while.

I say most cheap bindings work but once you get heavier pivots work great. I don't know much about bindings but squires might work.

Shit yeah maybe not. I guess it’s between the pivots and Tyrollia attacks. I really want pivots but I don’t know if I can justify the price

I love my Attacks. I just stick with them since they are cheaper than Pivots and lighter. I've had no issues with my 13s, not one.

Stay away from Griffons. Marker just seems to fall apart. Avoid them like the plague.

As far as STHs go, I have no personal experience but the owner of my local shop used to ski for Salomon and he told me that even though he might be a fanboy of the company, he still thinks they are one of the best bindings and he has not had any issues with them. He goes hard too. Lots of switch tricks off of BC booters.

Pivots can break too. However both bindings are pretty hallmarks of the industry, and know for their robustness. Both Pivots and STH2's share the same overall elasticity.

But for the OP I would probably suggest attacks.

Definitely go with a 13/14 din binding even if it costs a little more. They can easily be your bindings for 5 plus years, and there’s a good chance you’ll grow a bunch in the next years and grow out of an 11 din binder

Attack2 13 and done. Beefier construction than the 11 and without the toe/heel height ramp issues that the 11 has. You can find the Attack 2 13 for $150 US or less so it’s a great deal for a fantastic, light binding that will last years.

Oof how’d you do that? Pivots have been pretty bombproof in my experience.

the only reason I really warned about the STH is because I wasn’t doing anything crazy when the toepiece came off. The drop in to Corbets is hairy but it came off during a simple hard carve shortly after. Just popped right off for no reason

What skis are you mounting? We can suggest brake widths as well if you haven't already figures that out.

There 106 so I’m going to get 115 brakes. Since I only have money for the 12 Aw or Tyrolia attack 13 what would you guys recommend overall?

Get the Attack 13s. Check out eBay if you haven't. I got some Attack 13s (2nd generation) with 95 brakes for $130. That included free shipping from Canada to the US. The Canadian dollar is trash so if you can find someone with free or cheap shipping in Canada you might get a great deal.

I have a pair with griffons and I just got attack 12s on my kartels. Griffons are good but I love the attacks so far. Really light and they seem pretty solid so far.
