Anyone ever break their patella (knee cap)?

Unfortunately I fucked myself right before ski season and broke my patella (which is your knee cap if you didn't know) 5 weeks ago. As far as breaking it goes it was a best case scenario... I cracked it in half, not into pieces so I didn't need surgery. I got out of the leg brace i was in last week and my knee is feeling pretty good again now. Also my local ski area is about to open insanely early and I can't stop thinking about when I'm going to get to ski again. Basically wondering if anyone else has had a similar injury and how long it took them to get back to skiing, and then park skiing again.

Ask LJ on this one, dude shattered his kneecap, came back next winter and won rails to riches. Probably lots of PT in your future though which I've heard is quite the bitch.

I fell on my kneecap but apparently have not damaged anything major but it still hurts. There a bit of fluid under my patella so I'm going to try PT and hope that helps. From now on I'm just going to wear g form kneepads when i do anything.

I fractured mine back in highschool during a early spring futsal tournament. Was in a brace for a bit but I was able to play for my last few outdoor games early summer. Probably shouldn't have but I was itchin and got cleared by my doctor. Definitely talk to your doctor.

Fucking skateboarding lol

Was at a new park, just coped a new deck and was warming up on a flat rail that was probably no more than 5 inches off the ground. I stuck on it trying to back feeble the last like 2 feet of the rail and got sent straight to my right knee cap. Pretty much broke my fall with it. Surprisingly it didn't hurt at all, I tried to brush it off and skate some more but then it started to swell up like 3 times the size of the other knee and I couldn't put any weight on it or bend it at all.

Yo totally forgot about this, I didn't fuck mine up nearly as bad as he did though, but def gonna try to reach out. And yeah I start PT this week pretty stoked.

Could you feel any pain in your knee cap where you broke it when you went back to playing, or did that go away by the time you got cleared. The only time it hurts now is when i try to bend it while holding a lot of weight on it like making big steps up which has me worried about taking heavy flat east coast jump landings, but that might just be because I'm only 5 weeks deep into healing and its not done yet.

I came off a motorcycle and dislocated and fractured my wrist and 2 weeks later the hospital told me my leg was fractured but me in a brace told me try not put weight and had a wound got it cleaned and burned the scar so that’s nearly closed and now there saying I might have to get surgery on my leg because there can be fluid that won’t let the fracture heal but my leg never split like a hairline fracture but does anybody know should they of locked the brace or leave it free so I can bend my leg thanks
