You are a prisoner in a room with 2 doors and 2 guards. One of the doors will guide you to freedom and behind the other is a hangman --you don't know which is which.
One of the guards always tells the truth and the other always lies. You don't know which one is the truth-teller or the liar either.
You have to choose and open one of these doors, but you can only ask a single question to one of the guards.
What do you ask so you can pick the door to freedom?
I would flip a coin. While the coin is in the air distracting the guards I would use my super quick speed to check both doors and then catch the coin before they noticed.

You would need to word the question to the guards as "What would you tell me if I asked which is the door to freedom?" They will both tell you the freedom door.

Nope. The truther will always tell the truth so he will say the freedom door. The liar in this case would tell you the freedom door as well. His untruthful answer to the question “which is the door to freedom” is the hangman door. When you ask “what would you tell me” it turns the hangman door answer into the truth because that IS how he would answer that question. so in order to lie he actually needs to tell you the freedom door.
I forget what the terminology is called but there are multiple clauses in the second question’s wording which spins the question in a way that you get the truth.

I know what you're trying to get at in terms of the word play but the lie is specifically only applicable to the door not the actual double negative to the question. e.g I would tell you a lie, therefore I tell you a lie to the lie which is the truth. Of course it's not explicitly stated that his lie only applies to the door but given the more elegant actual answer, it would be inappropriate to assume you can just simply pull a double negative on the guard
