Where to stay for next winter?

ColingarnesAlright here is the deal. I get 6 months leave for the birth of my next child. Wife gave me the go-ahead to pick anywhere to live for the month of Feb. And March. Would like to stick to West Coast or Rockies.

Where would you pick? My mind is racing.. too many options and I keep thinking of other places. Would prefer a place that is a little more family friendly as we will have 3 children under 5 years old and I'm the only one that skis. So somewhere with a bit of a town and atmosphere (food, activities). I also don't really want a place too busy but I guess with 2 months I could find plenty of time to miss long lift lines.

So, where would you go given the option that you think would hold me and family over for 2 months without everyone else getting stir crazy.. and yes I know my wife is awesome.

QuaffIt's a hell of a time for sure! I don't know if you'd find anywhere to rent in town if you came in mid Winter, but I recommend emailing the Manager of "The Hostel" in Teton Village about a long term stay. I think it ends up being like $1000 per month to stay in a shared bunk room and it's almost exactly 120 steps to the tram from the front door. It's a really special experience and I highly recommend. The skiing in Four pines and granite canyon is some of the best in North America for sure.

DirtYStylEThis was my first thought, nice town and Batchy is epic... If I was a kid my first pick would be cali with a short drive to the beach. Then you can pick which mountain you want an hour away, with several other good places being a bit further out

ColingarnesI work for a hospital in so cal. It's not all paid leave. But we can afford it and you only live once.

ColingarnesWe live in San Diego so we get the beach plenty. I want the opposite. I want cold. I want snow. Lol.

DirtYStylEIf you got the cash just do a really nice resort town that has what you want. The kids will probably think that the place you choose is cool no matter what. Sounds like a grand adventure. I went to Nelson BC for my first time a few months back. I talked to a bunch of locals and they said the Banff region has the best (all mountain) skiing up there. There are several resorts close to each other so that might be a place to look at

cozzeyThis might be cool but an extended stay in another country can be hard. Maybe check out Schweitzer? I don’t know what the town scene is like but I know the skiing is amazing. As someone said Bend would be super sick and an amazing place to live as the town itself is soooo cool.

Steamboat is really close to a cabin I have and I know some friends who live up there and do enjoy it but like any ski town there are rich snobs and a pass to steamboat ain’t cheap.

DirtYStylEExtended stay in Canada is half a year a believe. I don't think Schweitzer is a good spot for a family. Its a tourist spot with a rather rowdy crowd of people that like to drink and have fun. Then again I only went up there for college weekend each year.

cozzeySun valley Idaho or Big Sky Montana, gives em a nice outdoorsy more locals vibe then any other major major resorts.

Or somewhere near Mount baker but thats limited in the children department.

brett_fishersun valley is expensive asf. not a huge park scene more of a soul 7 dad vibe.
their park can be sick at times.
