Ski - Defect or Normal?

Poor workmanship, that's all. Like they said, it won't affect how the ski rides at all. But that tail definitely has a greater chance of falling apart faster.

Did you ride the ski at all?
Should have inspected the ski on getting it to compare wear. However, if you just got them; I would complain to the representative. Its like buying a Mercedes with a huge scratch on the driver door when you get it.

I got fucked by shops too... The best one I heard was "Tough luck dude" on a pair of Technica Cochises from this year. They were 650$ and only got 2 days out of them. I flipped out. Last I heard was the rep was notified from the defect.

I rode the skis one time. Disappointed to say the least. Company told me to fill it with epoxy and if gets worse then submit another warranty claim.

Just bad quality control and workmanship. Seen a lot of issues with factions.

Get them done now or as soon as possible. Shops are closing up and starting their summer season. Submit in the warranty anyway because it will be nearly impossible next year.

Fuck that. Get a replacement ski. You're not paying $500-800 for "something that happens" buts OK. Unless that's base material covering the excess gap, I'd send them in. If it does have base material all the way across, then who cares. Still looks garbage. It's like getting a pair of Nike shoes with the swoosh upside down. Or a pair of ski poles with uneven baskets. Or boots with one yellow buckle. The list goes on and on. Any respectable company would replace something that doesn't asthetically look to par.

true, some brands even replace the skis if there is just a minor defect in the graphic. but i wouldn't bother that much, since the skis will get abused to death in a month usually (for faction skis atleast) sadly they seem to have dropped in quality

is the gap filled in with epoxy or is that wax? if it's epoxy, I would agree. not huge deal, probably won't effect the ski too much. while common not visually pleasing, especially for the money people pay for skis. (that's why you see a lot of caps on skis - pop those off and sometimes you'll find some pretty rough edge work)
if there's an actual gap and it's just filled in with wax, then you might have a problem. sure might not effect the riding of the ski too much, unless you bump something with with tip, base doesn't look like its got to much contact with the t-stamp (again if there is an actual gap not filled in with epoxy). if the base starts to break away from the edge, then you've got a whole new set of issues and claims.

As a small boutique brand, my opinion, would be 'common and doesn't impact' is a poor excuse. And that the goodwill earned outweighs the pretty minimal replacement cost.
