Hey PNW skiers,
Which WA resort do you think has the best inbounds terrain? In terms of variety, steeps, trees, glades, bowls, drops, etc. Focus only on the terrain: disregard things such as lift lines, parking, etc.
If you could only ski one Washington resort, which would it be?
Also, which inbounds runs/areas in WA are your favorite?
I currently have a seasons pass to Stevens. I did the learn-in-3 guarantee two years ago (great deal btw) and have never skied anywhere else, so I was thinking of hitting up either Crystal, Alpental or Baker sometime this season. I'm on a college student's budget and can probably only visit one other resort this year, so I want to get opinions on which is best.
I mostly like to ski bowls, steeps, chutes, faces, and glades, and I like runs that pass through varied terrain. I'm not the biggest fan of skiing open mogul fields, though.
I'll start off with my favorite Stevens terrain.
As far as marked runs go, Bobby chute, Wildkatz, Cloud 9 and Aquarius Face are great. Corona Bowl is fun if the snow is good, but otherwise it's usually just scraped-out icy moguls.
The best areas at Stevens aren't marked runs. Big Chief Bowl, Schimms Meadow, Tye Bowl, the meadow area under 7th, Andromeda Face, Polaris Bowl, trees skiers left of Southern Cross, under Hogsback, big chief trees, etc are all fantastic.
I don't have anything to compare it to, but Stevens seems to have a nice balance of different types of terrain.
