NSdiedWOdlnI think you should just be turned away if they catch you using another persons pass. The resorts get all jidf on ppl who swap passes. If you resort ppl want more money, then vote republican.

SofaKingSicksome def exist but theyre some sort of special like corporate thing where it's a special pass that can be used by various employees of a company or something along those lines. needless to say it's a different price and not to be confused with typical season passes haha

It just doesn't seem like smart business. If you fine them $500 dollars you're making back what you lost on the ticket and more. If they get two strikes their banned. But if you just pull the pass, charge them thousands of dollars, and charge them with fraud you'll get jaded kids like this guy screaming fuck Vail to every person and forum they can.

Resorts are going to stand their ground on this, its the rules of the resort and they want everyone to pay to ski. Shocking, I know, but in reality someone who decides to use someone elses pass and gets caught has zero ground to stand on, they can bitch and moan all they want but in the end they were wrong, they knew the consequences and they still chose to steal the service instead of buying it.

Saying that they should be light on them is like saying that if someone walks into a shop and steals something worth $80-120 should be absolved of their wrong doings and let off with a warning. How is that an appropriate way to address someone stealing from a business? its not. Just because the general majority hates a business doesn't mean its okay to steal from them, there is no way I'm going to let you justify the actions of poaching a resort.

peterspringer10Yeah it sucks but they’re legally fully correct. Kid I know at Pats Peak did the “forgot your season pass, printed a free day pass” and then gave the day pass to his friend. Somehow they got caught and the kid ended up getting his season pass pulled, payed a $55 day ticket fine, and then ended up with fraud and identity theft on his record. Then Pats fucking banned him from the mountain. They got pretty butthurt over one little ticket.

LonelyMan why do you do this. I never said that they should be light on them. You just love to ride your high horse and twist words. I'm saying that it should be treated like any other petty crime. If a kid gets a speeding ticket they don't immediately pull the license, fine them, and bar them from driving for life. That'd be fucking stupid. If a 16 year old steals a jacket from a store they usually get arrested. This scares the shit out of them and they usually just end up with a fine and some community service that wipes the charge off their record.

How the fuck is charging them 4 times the cost of the lift ticket and giving them a strike going easy? If they do it again charge them with fraud, ban them or whatever. I don't care. There's no need for a multimillion dollar ski resort corporation to go after a 17 year old for trying to get a free day of skiing. I know you've wouldn't understand cuz you've never done anything wrong in your life, but kids do stupid things. I think that within context they should be given some leniency.

eheathI don't make the rules, neither do you. OP is probably not true, I don't think Vail charges you $2500 to renew your pass... we really should be taking OP with a grain of salt because its likely a troll.

That being said, a speeding ticket was a poor reference, stealing a jacket yes is more comparable, but still not $800. Each state is different, but punishment for theft depends on the value of the item stolen or in this case fraudulent use. Same thing goes for resort, each resort has rules and regulations with set punishments.

Ive been around the ski industry long enough to know that using someone elses pass is wrong and you will get fucked over if you get caught (and dont get away from the employees) and you're very naive for thinking that resorts should just give someone a slap on the wrist for theft of services.

If they scan, are you serious? When you print a forgotten pass ticket, it flags or shuts down your pass. If you try and use it, the system most def has that info of you saying you forgot it and getting a forgotten pass.

Not exactly rocket science to get you busted. Honestly one of the more derpy things you could do on a scannable pass.

peterspringer10Yeah it’s a small mountain where they don’t scan or have barcodes at all on the day tickets and it wasn’t me that did it just a kid I know there. Pretty sure the ticket lady watched him hand the printed ticket to his friend right outside the office lol it was not the most intelligent thing in the world. Most people dont ski all day every day. A ton of people would split passes to split the costs.

What fetivals are advertising transferablr wristband? Everyone Ive ever been to is a stictly non transferable policy. Alterations to wristband like cutting the ends, not having the black piece (cloth) or having it clear taped on ( paper) can get you booted.

Sure people leaving early sell wristbands all the time, but Ive never heard of a festival saying they were cool with that.

Even if they lost 10% of pass revenue for a season because of it, it's ONLY 10% but it's still a good amount of money the ski area is banking on.

A ton of ski areas aren't that well off turning crazy profits. Some are barely breaking even.
