I was checking Twitter after it was announced that Nick, Cassie and Gus got through and this was one of the first things that came up....Tbh I think she is disgusting and pity her kids. Just shows you how much of an impact Gus will have on the world stage as an out Olympic athlete. Hopefully it may change some minds and show up people like this. Read bottom to top.

Iggyskier brought to my attention that this account is a Russian Bot!! I checked it before I posted the screenshot but it was private and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Now it is open and you can see that the only messages sent are those sent to Gus. Knowing that it is a Russian bot, I can now see the grammar irregularities too. This is kinda scary. We should look out for hate on Twitter towards Gus over the Olympics and see where it's coming from and alert Twitter.

Her husband probably turned gay after being with her for too long.

I don't pay attention to social media too much or follow Gus, but I'd imagine the media promotes that Gus is gay more than Gus does. And I wouldn't be surprised if he's getting a bit tired of it, but, maybe not. He does have a good platform for something I assume he feels strongly about.

this is pretty much a more extreme/unreasonable version of how NS first reacted. Tons of skiers were complaining that he was using coming out for fame, that sexuality had nothing to do with skiing, etc.

jealousy doesn't look good on anyone, his abilities speak for themselves, shouldn't blame a person for filling a niche that a backwards society created. if people were actually semi intelligent and mature they would realize sexual preference has zero impact to anyone other then the individual.

At least last year he had the decency to pretend to be normal! I can't believe trump is going to let this happen. I thought a trump vote was for values and decency, I guess not. You don't understand. She had to explain to her children that "Just because you just saw a homosexual kiss another man on TV doesn't mean it's okay. We hate gay people because we're bigots". She was hoping to save that conversation at least for a couple of years, but the influx of disgusting gays came too soon.

As far as the thread. In the dew tour ad that some facebook peoples freaked out about(without even watching) he said like 30 seconds in that he hopes it's not newsworthy. He wants it to be at a point where nobody gives a fuck because it's not a thing

I agree. Some people, not in this thread really, were sending the whole "Why is everyone making such a big deal! Nobody cares what you do in the bedroom!" If nobody cared if you were gay, it wouldn't be news. But it's news because we still have a ways to go.

Don't get me wrong, in terms of media, people will latch onto any difference or controversy to sell a story, but being gay is still an issue in 2018. A hell of a lot better than years ago, but still not a "Nobody cares" situation yet but a lot closer.

The ability for a pro skier to achieve some sort of relevance outside the skiing community is like the only opportunity they'll ever have to make any money.

'ESPN magazine offered me 100k to be on their cover and answer 5 questions but I said no because I didn't want some kids on NS to think I was overdoing the gay thing...' get the fuck outta here

For clarity, it really isn't about their stance on the LGBTQ, though obviously they have culture issues there. They don't give a shit about that in this case. It is literally about stirring the left vs right pot right now. This is the same shit they've been doing for the past 3+ years now - so honestly, sort of fascinating to see it involve Gus and be so close to the skiing community (as this is the same stuff happening across our whole political spectrum right now).

Bot speaks up, validates the feelings a lot of Americans have, so they speak up, and suddenly both sides are yelling. In this case, it is literally a Russian bot stirring the political pot over people's opinions on LGBTQ rights.

This thread and people thinking this is a real person shows how well this is working, as this is happening on every issue dividing the country right now. When all is said and done Russia meddling in our politics & elections will likely have been one of the most successful intelligence operation in all of our lifetimes. It might sound crazy to say, but that is literally what you are seeing here, just on a micro scale. They are doing some pretty serious damage to the country, so hopefully people start to wake up soon.
