How do you know if you have a concussion

Check to make sure your pupils are dilating correctly. You should stand in front of a mirror and watch them physically contract/expand when you shine a flashlight at it. That's all I got

Slam your head on things and shake it violently, afterwards stare at a computer monitor for hours on end. Repeat this process every day.

Hit my head playing lacrosse and got back up and instantly felt kind of weird. Wasn't until the next morning that I knew for sure that I had a concussion. Most noticeable thing was just feeling super detached from everything, almost like I was drunk or high but in a really weird way

If you have difficulty focusing on something like reading or tv you prob. do

Check to see if your eyes can track moving things properly and if bright lights or loud noises bother you more than normal. See if you can remember simple things. Above all just go to the doctor. Be careful looking at it though you might read it and end up thinking you have cancer.

Go to sleep.... see if you wake back up. If you wake up you'll be ok.

for future reference take a baseline concussion test to be able to compare later

Also things like vomiting and more difficulty concentrating than usual. If you really think you have a concussion, go see your doc.

DIRTYBUBBLEI just tried to skate from Breck to Frisco and ate shit while going very fast. My legs and hands took most of the fall but I grazed my head a little and saw lights flash for a split second. Aside from that I feel fine and my head looks fine. I've never had a concussion before.

That's rough man. Check your pupils, if you have a headache, sensitivity to light, detachment/foggy haze, I forget other ways to check.

I love to skate the bike path from Breck to Frisco, bus up to Copper, skate back down to Frisco, and catch the bus home to Breck.

concussions are really fucking weird, youre stunned and completely out of it but the same time know something is fucked up. theyre terrifying. if you hit your head and feel even the slightest bit abnormal, don't fuck around with that and go seek help. you don't want to deal with the can of worms that TBIs and brain damage bring.

Recently had my first at Killington, didnt need a cat scan but I remember the drive home was weird with all the headlights (mighta been the weed) but I didnt feel right for a few days. I had pulsing headaches on my drive home and then kinda infrequent ones day to day. I just hit the urgent care center after I got home, best to get it checked out early in the season, but now everytime I get a headache from any form of falling on skis I get real worried. I remember the fall and everything but Im a worrier so I made sure to check it out asap.

Yeah it was weird, idk the headlights just bothered me. But 2.5 hours later back home and 1 tylenol in I felt ok but still knew I should get checked out, my helmet had already been through a few other head hits. All I know was I went for a shifty to switch from a flat rail over the continuing down rail and my friend said I kinda just flew past the landing, which was kinda just a steep 20' patch of icey shit snow, landed sideways kinda and went to my back and hitting the right side of my head. I got up as soon as i could get my body positioned, midfall I could hear people gasping so I knew it was kinda bad. According to Dr. High in urgent care (looked higher than me) said an artery is on the right side, the worry is having what that actor lady had from a fall on like a bunny trail, (epidural hematoma) but he could tell from my eyes and my symptoms that "I had been concussed" but not terribly, I skied the following weekend and just broke in the skis and boots taking it easy, weather might give me a good break this weekend which is fine.

The days following I felt ever so out of it at work, some headaches, but pretty much fine and Im not sure if it really was dry air beginning in NH or the concussion, but pushing a shit out gave me a nosebleed bad, nothing else caused them though, no blood in my ears or anything either.

How bad is looking at a computer screen after a concussion? I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to do that and I spent a couple of hours in the library doing homework on the computer 2 days after. My head did hurt a little bit doing that...

I think the main issue with falling asleep with the worse concussions is they need to see symptoms if you hemmorage or get bad brain swelling. If you fall asleep you won't be able to notice changes or tell anyone to take you to the hospital.

Any blow to the head should be checked, saying that it's not always realistic. You'll generally know when something's not right, and if you have that feeling please don't risk it. Get checked oot my dude

Concussions are fucking bad news. They may not seem like much, especially when you're younger but they stack up. I had several and bounced right back like nothing. Really never had any problems till I had a good one when I was 22. Had severe headaches for a solid year, pretty bad headaches less frequently that eventually balanced out over the next 6 months.

When I was 24 I hit my head again pretty solid. Drove 3.5 hours home from mount snow. I don't think I even remembered driving home. Was pretty fucked. Head was super weird. Some wubbing, and just out there. My balance was fucked, like using the walls to keep myself from falling over. I mean I could walk, but not that well. Also my footsteps even lightly put a lot of pressure on my brain like I was slamming my head. And my head even on the lightest pillow felt like it was crushing itself. This went on for a while. I would just sit up and watch movies till I fell asleep. Couldn't really watch much for a few days because it made me feel sick.

Shit was nuts though. Even several months after if I stepped off a curb wrong and planted my heel wrong I would feel dazed. Shit was crazy. I wore the fuck out of my shoes and boots because I would shuffle everywhere. I almost tripped several times because I barely picked up my feet because i couldn't take the compression.

Now I have to be absurdly careful. I do my best to minimize risks in things I do and just keep living as best as possible. I'm def more irritable I've noticed. I don't like that really as I've always been a nearly chronically cheerful guy around people. But shit happens. I thought about staying away from the mountain, but that's what I love, my hobby, my job, my passion. Fuck it. I just take it a lot more mellow these days. It sucks to have to be so fucking paranoid sometimes, but it beats not riding.

Sparknotes: concussions are bad, try to not break your brain. If you get a decent concussion, be super careful until it's healed. Getting another good knock to the head right after a bad concussion is no bueno. Also concussions stack as you go through life. Be careful out there. Don't let the thought keep you from killing it in the park, but be safe. If you fuck up your head give it time to heal.

Seemed totally normal/didnt lose consciousness so we skied to the bottom of the park then he turned to me and goes "where the hell are we." Had totally lost his memory from roughly the last 48 hours and couldn't even hold a conversation without asking "wait, whats going on" every 15 seconds. Honestly one of the funniest and scariest things I've ever experiences simultaneously.

Yea dude if you have a concussion you would know by the next day for sure. I hit my head a year ago skiing and got told I would be fine in a few days. The next day i knew something was off and after 2 weeks went back the doc because I felt like I was i a dream 24/7. I'm still recovering now. Do yourself a solid and if you feel a bit strange go get help and dont put it off

Totally feel this shit. Hit my head on an ice patch after a down shotgun rail last season and my head went absolutely numb. My homie i was skiing with told me i kept asking whose skis those were (they were mine) and kept repeating other nonsense for a good hour before reconnecting with my memory. I’m sure it had a comical factor too it but yea, scary shit dude.
