VinnieFBoot size and boot length are not always equal. 28.5 in one boot might mean 330mm length but 320mm in another.
Since your boots are the same size then the length is probably quite similar (within a couple cm for sure). Almost all bindings are able to adjust much more than that to accommodate different boots without remounting. Some exceptions like FKS which don't have much play.
Your binding can probably adjust to fit your boot considering they'd be so close in size so no need to remount. However it should be adjusted properly to have proper forward pressure.
And of course there is a chance your friends boot had the binding maxed out and yours is just a bit longer or shorter in the wrong direction.
