Homemade rail

Im making a homemade rail and would like to know what the best shape for a rail would be. What is the most fun and best rail shape to learn new tricks on, flat or round rail? Going to build it with wood and PVC pipe / pipes.

If you make a box, HDPE is the real stuff but quite expensive I may add. Can get on Amazon.

You could probably find some old metal poles in a scrap yard if you really want to make a rail.

depends what size of pvc you have access to.

if you can get a hold of a big fat turquoise tube you don't even need to build anything and it's super easy to learn on. 2nd best option would probably be to use small (1"ish) tubes and make a shotgun rail

Either try to get your hands on a tube or make a flat rail.. long as possible

Youll be able to progress so much better than if you were stuck with a rainbow rail

Just like someone else said, big round tube if you can find one, or two skinny tubes together to make a shotgun rail.

Some breddy good info on here even though the forum hasn't been active. I've made a shotgun rail with two 1 1/4" pvc pipes, a flat rail with 3 pipes, another with one 4" pipe and just dropped a ~10" pipe on the ground. The fat pipe is super easy just lay it in the snow and build a small lip. The 4 inch is probably my favorite, think most people on here favor bigger pipes. The best to learn tricks/fuck around on for suure

we have a neighborhood comp every winter. the fireside rail jam was added this year to great acclaim. my 4 year old with a huck.

Pvc works well, is cheap and easy.

If you want a steel rail you can build a stupidly sturdy 2x4 frame with steel coping and have a steel surfaced rail, that will feel burly like the mtn, but without having to weld.

If you want to get super weird, see if your dad uncle, friends dad, random homeless guy can weld. Buy the steel, and send err.

I wouldn't bother with hdpe for backyard features. Shit is fucking expensive. Like expensive that even ski areas dread replacing it. The "boxes" with several small pvc tubes work well and cost like 5% of the price.

I have a flat rail in my house and it is not so good, but a tube is very difficult to do
