Minimalist Skiing Game With Realistic Physics

Hey Skiers.

I apologize if this the wrong place for this post. Please feel free to remove if it is.

My name is Jeff Weber and I recently created minimalist 2D skiing game for the iPhone. I thought some here might be interested since it's kind of the skiing off-season. :-)

The unique thing about the game is it uses more realistic rotation mechanics than most games. Once in the air you can only crouch or extend to control your spin. No fake outside torques, just conservation of angular momentum.

To play: Slide thumb up when you come to a jump to get some back spin. In the air, slide your thumb down to crouch and spin faster and up to extend and spin slower. With some practice (and it will take practice) you should be able to stick your landings.

I'll warn you, it's a tough game as it requires development of some new muscle memory, but you all should be use to that. :-)

Ha, not quite. Controls in my game are much tougher than Ski Safari as I was going for a bit more realism.

does anyone remember "o2 skiing game"? http://downloads.informer.com/o2skiing-alpha-demo/ unfortunately I haven't been able to play it since i got a mac, but i used to spent an absurd amount of time on mastering the controls. The physics of o2 skiing haven't been matched ever since

Yes. Ski Stunt Simulator was great and the controls for Just Ski are a simplified version of SSS.

Hey man pretty cool game. One thing I did notice though is that when you land a trick and go from swiping up like extended position to come out of a trick to back to crouching there's this little bump/jump that throws the skier forward causing you to die sometimes. Another thing would be if you added a point system that would be pretty cool too with maybe extra points for flipping and stuff? Other than that though it's a solid game.

Really fun so far. Would be cool to see more options for courses. I know it's meant to be difficult, but it's getting kinda annoying having to do the same starting section every time.

Yeah, restarting gets old. I've considered adding checkpoints, but that might make things too easy and many people like the difficulty level.

Extra courses my come if the game takes off...

The game does keep track of your flips and gives you the total at the end of the run. That is sort of meant to be your score.

Unless it's just something with my game I don't get the score at the end of the run so maybe an update just hasent been released or something but at least you have a plan for it!

Same, already played this for a few hours last night haha.

Also agree the one thing I want would be course variability. Only thing I was getting tired of was the same jumps over and over

Hmm, that is strange... you got to the little cabin and there was no rotation counts in the top left corner?

You need to make it to the end of the level for it to give you your score!
When you get to the end of the level you crash into a snowbank outside a cabin
