Hey guys,
I grew up snowboarding - mostly All Mountain with a little bit of Park thrown in. I live in Arizona and mostly board at Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ, although I make the occasional trip to Utah or Colorado. I used to live in Flagstaff so I got to board a ton, but now a days I am back in Phoenix so my days are limited unfortunately :(
Anyways...I have been dying to try skiing. I know my best bet is to rent some skiis first, so that is the plan, but if I like skiing I would really like to get my own stuff. Nothing worse than uncomfortable rental gear.
I am looking for some good suggestions on skiis and bindings for a newbie like me - preferably something I can "grow into" in terms of skill level. If skiing is anything like snowboarding I am sure the most important part is your boots, so I am guessing my best bet for boots is to just go try a bunch of different boots at the local shop.
I have been reading on EVO a bit about ski length, waist width, turning radius, etc
So here we go:
LOCATION: Arizona
HEIGHT/AGE/WEIGHT: 6'1", 23 years old, 185-190lbs
ABILITY LEVEL: Beginner
BUDGET: Open budget
WHAT KIND OF SKI DO YOU WANT: Rocker Camber Rocker seems like the way to go. It would be nice to have something capable of park, but reality is I will be doing more All Mountain. Twin tip would be nice too.
Any recommendations for ski length, waist width, turning radius, specific models I should look at, bindings, etc...anything is appreciated.
Thanks!
