Urban Style Rail Take Off / Getting On Help

So here is the problem, when I hit urban style down rails, i get scared that I will clip my tips or not get on the rail properly so I actually pop really high on purpose so I don't get hung up on the rail. The problem is that I can only do this when the kicker is poppy and I land like a boner on the rail. Any advice to fix that. Another backround detail. I got almost got 4 out of that rail since they fixed the kicker but my tail got caught at 270 so i landed at like 3 off the rail kinda. Stoked on that. Also hit an urban on down tube and it changed the way i think about rails. Its scary to come on rails from the center now unless its like 6 inches above the ground. Kinda ironic...

Looking better, obviously it's going to be easier on a down rail but try loosening up a bit you look pretty stiff on the take off and on the rail, maybe try bending your knees a little more(not a lot) and make sure you have forward shin pressure, it will come keep up the work!

I sorta have a good example of what your doing wrong with how much you should be bending, im gunna post a link to a video of me and you'll notice in the first 2-3 seconds I'm skiing pretty straight up don't really have my knees bent like how your are in your video, but notice as I get closer to the rail @ about 3 seconds in I bend my knees and I'm able to hit the rail clean and pull a decent backswap lol, now obviously I didn't urban onto this rail but it should still help to show how stiff your being.

When popping onto the rail try to stay centered and balanced off the take-off. Turn slightly in the air and adjust your hips and shoulders to become perpendicular to the rail, while looking at the end of the rail. Stay relaxed and calm and the outcome will probably surprise you. It's mind game with balance

I only go to holiday valley like once a year and I just went last weekend, and of course its snowing all this week there. Ill get a video of this long down tube setup at a resort like 5 min from this one ( the rail in the video was the only rail setup). I didn't really bend my knees in fhat video because on previous hits i was going in with too much speed so id just disaster it basically so I didn't wanna land backseat cause i got some shin bang from some failed 360s.

Well bending your knees and loosening up will help you get a higher pop so you don't have to go as fast and disaster the rail

The.FishThat is probably because I clipped my right tip the previous hit and slammed my knee into the rail. Not a fun time.


Come in at less of an angle and wait to spin.

I can but for some rails it felt easier to go slower to complete the rail like the dfd.

get the full 90 bend you knees and look at the end of the rail, it helps me a lot to pedal for a front swap or spin, as for the raised hop ons I used to have the same problem and my way to fix it was just jump over it snow to snow.

Okay my mission has been accomplished. I can hit almost every rail at my local hill and some of the stuff there is setup crazy. Thanks for the help! I don't really need anymore tips because it feels so natural and easy now. Ill post some footy when I go with some buddies later this week.
