I built a PVC rail a few years back and I'm wondering if it's too short. It's a triple barrel flat rail that's 10 feet long. However I do have another 3 ft section of 4 inch that I could build an extension with. Any thoughts?
I used to have a 10ft rail and thought it was too short. Not enough room for double/triple swaps or 270 on to swap combos. If you're a beginner, then it's fine but I'd look for something 15-20ft
magco1271Wait so, my friend built a six foot/ seven foot rail that i have yet to see/use. Is it going to suck?
i can barely pretz 2 out on my friends 8 foot, can 2 out pretty easily. basically just using it until we have enough snow for his full setup .could maybe swap if youre good but you'd be finishing the swap right at the end of the rail.

not sure what happened to embed. but this is the link
SKRockiesHow can you afford 3 metal rails of that quality mate.
Its his dads family company. So I think they just used a bunch of scrap pipes/ metal they had and then welded what needed to be welded. Although they are quite wealthy as well. He's also got a winch in the works. Has all the parts just needs to be put together.
Once it's all set up I'll make an edit
It really depends on your ability level. 10 feet isn't bad for learning stuff. Once people can slide rails well 12-16 is a nice size for learning though as it allows you to slide for a little bit.
I will say that IMO 3 feet is way too short for an extension. I would build something else 8' plus unless you're going to rebuild the rail an add to it.
Everything sounds bigger until you hit it. For instance 16'-20' sounds pretty big but its considered a medium sized feature.

Id just like to learn some basic stuff like 2 ons, swaps, 1 footers, 2 outs. When I go skiing my favorite type of job is a short tube around 10-12' long. They're fun and simple and easy to learn stuff on.
it depends on how much speed you have, I have a decent amount and can get across about 31' before i run out of room. I have a 15' thats perfect for learning swaps, anything shorter IMO is not really as fun.
10 foot rails are great for learning. Once you get to the point where you want to do more difficult tricks, the rails are too short. Make a few 10 foot rails and set them up after each other.
