Making a ski edit

this year me and my friend are making edits (him mostly filming) and i personally am not the best park skier, i hit rails, do 360s, and 270s out but thats really it. How can i make my skiing fun to watch? The only thing i have come up with is to have a better style.

Go really big off cliffs or something if you aren't technically. Basically just send it or learn some more tricks. Good editing could help too.

I feel like I'm in a similar boat. My tricks aren't going to blow anybodys mind so my friends and I try to film a lot of the other hijinx we get into on the hill. I think it helps to convey the fun. That coupled with a good song can make a banger edit even with pretty basic tricks.

Look for easy stuff you can do using features in ways no one else would. Theres a lot of creative stuff you can do that is super easy in any park. Other then that just go fast and make sure the filming and editing is proper

1. Drone Footage - even marginal footage looks way sicker if its a drone shot.

2. AWOLNATION by Sail - is it Played out? maybe, but nothing says epic more than this track. Consider using it on a loop, or some form of remix to keep it fresh.

3. Random urban shots / slow mow wild life / timelapse scenery. -it doesn't have to have anything to do with your edit directly. but it adds a depart more arctictis level to your edit... like a metaphor or a juxtaposition .. or something like that. I haven't figured it out exactly, but all the sick edits have them.

Skiing is secondary. You got this.

yeah I ski a small park with about 500 vertical feet in iowa and the features and rare skiing wont blow anybody's mind like you said so really focus on the angles and shots and quality of the video as you need to be creative with your shots as well as your tricks as nobody wants to watch an edit of a guy following a skier down a hill doing the near the same thing every shot

Go fast and try new stuff. You'll be surprised at how much of skiing is simply mental. Some of the craziest stuff I've landed I never even dreamed of doing a year ago.

Sometimes I'll try tricks that are way out of my league just for shiggles. This is a really dangerous way to learn, but It's helped my progression a lot.

Nobody is going to be a video star their first few times making edits. After had work, determination, and a lot of time you'll be in the game. But for now just make videos for yourself, throw them on YouTube where they won't get discouraged as much as here, and take pride in what you do.
