So sad to hear, he was such an amazing athlete and person. Rip to the greatest to ever live.

S.J.WSocial media has ruined the deaths of famous people. You've got people who never watched boxing ever posting RIP to the greatest or whatever other cliche bullshit they can think of. Fuck off, Ali was in his prime 30 years before you were even born. Stop exploiting the deaths of famous people to make it look like you care.

TurquoiseCowboyJust look at the thread headline!
"Muhammad Ali dies". No R.I.P., no "box in peace", no "there's a better boxing ring in heaven". Nothing.

sgg.23Jesus Christ you can't say anything nice on here without somebody coming in and saying some dickhead comment. Sure, I never saw him box, but what I do know is that he was an inspiration off the ring for lots of people, including an old family friend who recently lost his life. I don't think it's a problem that I'm honoring his life and all the lives he changes and shaped. If you think that I'm trying to look like I care it's because I do care. He played a large role in my life and I just wanted to honor all the things he did. So how about not coming in here and whining about the title of the tread we remember who Muhhammad was and all the great things he did.

californiagrownI guess you don't understand what a cultural icon and revolutionary Ali was. He changed american society the way only a select few in this nations history have.
Not to mention he is THE most recognizable person in the world.
DeebieSkeebieshonestly how do some of you live with yourselves shitting on people for paying respects to people? I agree with the notion many are milking it for likes but you guys really don't understand how big of an impact this guy had on our country and the entire world. there is a fucking reason he is talked about in history books more than any other athlete (besides Jackie Robinson).
cool double standard though. fuck all of you for showing respect to one of the greatest athletes, but youre a dick if you do it to me if I lose someone I value. Fuck off.

BombogenesisThat's probably an exaggeration lol
GORILLAWALLACEthis and what sjw said.
my first thought was great now I get to see a weeks worth of posts by people my age pretending they had something in common with a 70 some year old boxer who they forgot existed until today. "he was such an inspiration" oh really tell me more about how a shit talking boxing champ from the 40 years ago inspired you growing up in a white suburb and going to university for sociology on your parents' dime.
californiagrownYou're right, why should we give 2 shits about one of the most important figures from the most influential decade in America's past 150 years. He didn't affect my life...
Oh wait. They both had huge parts in transforming the culture and policies of America. To not see the role Ali played in the civil rights and anti war movements isn't naive, it's willfully ignorant.
The reason he is do reverred in society is because he was the most popular athlete in the world hands down, AND was also an outspoken leader in the fight for social change during the 60s and 70s.
But lemme guess, you don't think that anything from tge 60's or 70s affects you today haha
GORILLAWALLACENobody is saying he was never relevant. We're just pointing out that it's an attention grab to post about how sad you are that a 73 year old boxer who was in his prime 20 years before you were born has died. When was the last time you thought about him before last week?
californiagrownFor me, it's a few times a month, but that's cause I idolize his characteristics.
I guess you still don't understand that he was more than an athlete(AKA entertainer), huh? That's like saying MLK was just preacher. You're either real dumb or real ignorant.
GORILLAWALLACEhaha how did I know you were going to say that you think about him often.
you're the worst kind of cunt. if I've been to the moon I'm sure you've been twice eh

californiagrownBut lemme guess, you think CR Johnson,s Sarah Burke, or Shane McKinley influenced you more than Ali? Right?
Lol. Talk about a sheltered white kid haha
El_Barto.Youre looking at this kinda wrong. Ali changed the shit for sure, no questions. He changed how race is spoke of in our country. No where near the likes of MLK but he had an impact for better or worse.
That was a long time ago. Ali impacted all of our lives indirectly. The people you mention very likely had a more direct impact on a lot of our lives.
Im 28 and have never seen an Ali fight. Heard maybe one or two excerpts of him speaking. CR and Shane? I have made conscious everyday life decisions with those two are the forefront of my thoughts. Never have I done that with Ali...im sure 99% of NS has done the same. Maybe youre that 1%. If so, great for you. Understand that we all live differently and have different influences.
Ali has impacted my life the same way Ghandi has. For the better? Sure, maybe. Directly in my decisions? Hell no
Ive been with a black girl for years now...if it was up to Ali i would stay with whites and her with blacks. Chew on that in your brain
californiagrownAli was a civil rights leader. If you dont see how the civil rights movement has affected you... idk what to say... I guess im slowly starting to understand why Trump is such a popular candidate??
El_Barto.You didnt even read what I wrote. The de-segrgation of this country has impacted me so much more than probably everyone on this site. Im going to marry a black girl and have an interracial family.
Keep not reading though
californiagrownYou said it impacted you indirectly.... Maybe you mispoke, idk?

El_Barto.Directly vs indirectly is an conversation of symantics. I shouldnt have said it like that and retract that portion of my post.
El_Barto.and come on dude...youre hinting that im a trump supporter because i dont idolize Ali?
If you wanna have an adult conversation dont make childish assumptions. If you want to have a childish conversation keep doing that and I will go back to shit posting and bashing noobs in other threads.
Perhaps you should show me why you idolize him. Show me why he was great for racial integration. Im not above changing my stance when presented with facts. So far the only facts in this thread are a video I posted of him saying horribly racist thoughts
