Factors that decide end of season

Besides snow amounts what are the factors when deciding end of season for resorts. Here in Michigan we have resorts that were open later last year with less snow then this year. Crystal mt said not enough skiers, Nubs Nob (inventors of the fan guns)said not enough revenue. Is it simple as our fault for not spring skiing enough?

$$$$$$ after spring break resorts don't pull in the moolah so it ain't worth it anymore. /thread

Some mountains also lease the land for a certain amount of time, or only have insurance for a set time

They aren't selling as much tickets, staff is running low, not enough snow, idk use your imagination

Money is kind of a factor. Here the last few weeks in Utah hardly anyone buys day passes. I feel like 80 percent of people who ski late ski season are the season pass holders. So pretty much most of the money that those riders used for a pass was paid for early season or pre season.

Interest drops meaning revenue drops. Sure season pass holders still show up, but the amount of day passes sold when it gets warmer decreases a lot and that is where money is made. Personally I think the ski industry just needs to be better at marketing late season skiing.

I really don't think it would make a big difference. People have moved on at the end of the season and have changed gears.

Like you said, interest drops and I don't think special promos, marketing, and events are gonna people hyped on skiing

That's what everyone says and history does agree with you, but I feel as though there has to be some way to make something work. I'm thinking more as an investment to get people that have never skiied and always consider it to expensive to get out and then maybe they'd like it and return during regular season the following years. You wouldn't be making money immediately but the following season you may see an increase. Just some thoughts,
