So this happened...

So today I was hitting the small park at Winter Park with my friend for a chill warmup lap. Me and my buddy get towards the end of the park where there are two small jumps and got in line to hit them. When we reached the front of the line, my friend called his drop and hit the jumps. Right after he dropped, I raised my hand to call my drop cause there were quite a few people around and I didn't wanna get snaked. Right as I'm about to drop, some kid about my age (15-16) came from behind me and raised his hand and dropped right next to me. I barely saw him out of the corner of my eye, but he started cussing me and claimed that I cut in front of him (which I did not). By now, we were about 20 feet from the jump. All of a sudden, this kid comes up right next to me, tackles me to the ground, and punches me in the face. I started to get up and took off my gloves to pop his ass, but then his dad comes from behind us and pins him to the ground.
I figured I better just leave and let this asshole's dad deal with him. I probably shouldn't have flipped him off on the way down the hill but I just couldn't resist ;). Anyways, what do you guys think about this situation? Personally, I don't think I was in the wrong, but is there something I'm missing? Thanks for reading this long ass story XD

If he skis in the park with his dad then that should show you that he probably doesn't have a lot of friends and could just have anger issues because of it

I wish these things surprised me but even if I was working there and saw that I would probably think"just another day in the park".

Some gaper put my friend in a chokehold for telling him not to sidejump rail takeoffs. I've seen a 9 person brawl in the middle of the park.


Idk what the fuck people are thinking, but they really need to mellow out.

Hopefully he didnt hurt you or break your gear.

I had a similar issue this past friday. At my local park we were having our weekly rail jam and the park itself isn't very big 3 20' rails a set of stairs and 2 kickers at the bottom. They have the park gated off so all the competitors could get some practice runs in prior to the event.

Anyway this gaper (who we will call tom) was constantly coming in and cutting people off. I spoke up to tom with the utmost niceness 3 times and he still kept coming in.

Finally shit went too far. Tom and my friend went for the same rail at the same time. Tom side jumped and shoved my friend and ended up cracking his ribs when he fell. I popped out of my skis along with all the other competitors and we ran to my friend to see if he was ok.

What I didn't know was going on behind me is Tom's gaper friends showed up (ass packing racers) and started throwing hands at a few of the other competitors.

Just to show how much of pussies they really are, they started swingin poles and skis and knocked out one of my other competitors and cut his jaw really bad.

It took a solid 15 minutes for the tow rope operator to get ski patrol. To try and break shit up.


Just typing this gets me fired up. Gahhh I fuckin hate people.

Yeah bro I was a little startled haha... Luckily when he hit me he had his gloves on and only got my jaw. My guess is that he had some anger issues cause fuckin went off

Idk, the kid was wearing nice gear and so was his dad, so it's fully possible

Thats quite the situation but i've seen worse this year. 2 snowboarders (of course) not sure why but had some beef and one punched the shit out of the other and he straight up lost a tooth and there was blood everywhere at the seen. Also the kid that tackled you sounds like he could use some friends and not a dad to hold him back lol.

That's shit for you but I wouldn't take it personally, you are within your means for sure. That kid is clearly off his rocker and I'd say that the guy may not be his dad but maybe his health worker.
