Any 4x4 rig owners on here? Looking for some people to talk about wrenching on your vehicles and stories about offroading, carnage, and overlanding experiences!
This is how our car turned out, with the GT-B wheels. Best thing is that they're almost half the weight of the factory wheels.
Came here expecting 4x4's, instead I see this fuckin thing...
Here's my little Ranger FX4 Lvl II. Pretty much stock Lvl II package but with 32's instead of 31's, it's been awesome for a "stock" truck. Want to do a few things to it but just bought a YZ250, maybe next summer it'll happen.

I like that truck thing is pretty badass and I like the color a lot on it as well. I think some new bumpers would look sick on it some full metal aftermarket ones and maybe a slight lift on it, nothing to crazy, but just like an inch or two given the size of the wheels.

Thanks bud, yeah that's basically exactly what I want to do to it haha
Anybody have any affordable solutions for mufflers/exhaust for 2007 2door jk x? Ive been looking for a while but cant find much that wont sound like a ricer...
VT_scratchholy smokes this thing is beautiful. How did you find a 1st gen in such great shape?!
It's been in the family for quite a while. My father in law bought it off the original owner in the late 90s, sold it to my now wife in 2001, and she drove it for about 10 years as her daily driver, then it became my daily driver.
Aww dang! I sold my truck before winter cus I just didn't have the time to put it through a respectable build, ya know?
I had a '88 Toyota 4Runner, 22RE, 5spd, on 31's with a baby lift on it. I rebuilt the top end by hand with friends, the best kind of build. I bought it with the long block/tranny rebuilt already (lucky me). I loved it! Looooved it! I just couldn't keep building it into what I would've ultimately wanted. I wanted to possibly get some small fender flares on the front, put some LG Engineering in it and a Flowmaster system on it, definitely new shocks. I wanted to tighten the torque bars to have it sit about 2in higher in the front than the back. I basically wanted a cross between a pre-runner and a true rig. Unfortunately, parts = money, building = time, and college classes and expenses. Also spent the entire summer recovering from ACL surgery, so it sat there for a while and I wasn't working on a build anyways, it went to someone who would love it well.
And that was after I rolled my first 4runner but that one wasn't as cool to be honest. That one had the 3.0L and had some tweaks made to it that I didn't much care for. Still rallied it around for camping and ended up tipping it right over eventually cus I'm a dumbass. But it was cheap, worked my money back really quickly and that's life!
Now it's just me, the WRX and my dirt bike, but I'll miss that truck...

Try borla exhaust, thats what i have on my cherokee.
This is what happened to my first truck, thankfully I only paid like $1,200 for it.
'89 body, SR5, nice interior for one of these things, good beefy tires without being too big for the truck, only issue was the guy before me threw a 3.slow engine in it for a swap. I don't know on what part of God's green earth you'd swap "down" when you could easily throw a rebuilt 22RE or a 3.4L but apparently that was the case... Honestly the engine wasn't that horrible, 1st Gens are pretty light bodies anyways so it wasn't like it would take a miracle to make it run.
Anyways, after I rolled it, it wouldn't start, towed it home, pulled the spark plugs, turned the engine over, put them all back in and it still ran. I love Toyotas!

Doing donuts, guess I sent it too hard... Funny thing is, I had been spinning them in the same EXACT spot not even a week prior. I hit a divot in the ground and it just bailed right over, was not fun, but that's why you always carry a knife.
Honestly the scariest part was that I was out there by myself, I'm just happy I left my window open or I probably would've been there for hours... No joke, after I cut myself out of the car, I was standing, bleeding next to the side of the road in the middle of the afternoon as cars passed right by me. Legit, ONE singular car stopped for me, asked if I was fine then drove off! Fuck me, man.

wow thats intense and pretty shitty, did you break bones? or just get roughed up?
ski-for-lifewow thats intense and pretty shitty, did you break bones? or just get roughed up?
I got roughed up pretty good but nothing broken. Some colorful bruises including quite the winner on my knee, for a week or two I thought I had ruptured something from the force on the steering wheel. A bump on my head, small glass on my legs and elbow from getting out, it could've been so much worse I'm glad it wasn't!
Thankfully I'm only 5'5" so I escaped the major cave in, couldn't drive around round-abouts for like 6 months to a year but I'm fine now.

94 on 32s with some other stuff. The only thing Its missing is a legit ski rack, the basket on top probably needs to be modified so I can attach some to it and still keep it but thatll have to come in the summer when its warm enough to work on it in the driveway

Did you ever do a headlight upgrade? I cant believe how bad the stock headlights on that thing are. Gotta go LED but there's 5000 options.

Nice! and yeah my roof rack will not work for my skis, mine is more of a rock crawler. I feel ya there on having to work in the cold, its not fun. I gotta insulate my garage or get a space heater.

Nah I never did! I totally know what you mean, the headlights are awful on it... My friend had a fantastic idea for the internal dash lights, if you're into taking things apart anyways. Pull out the dash, get a LED strip, wire that into the main electronics and lay it behind the speedometer area. I'm not sure if it works, but it would help if you have that same sort of dimming effect going on behind the dash.
Couldn't hurt to drive the truck down to somewhere like O'Riley's see which one of the workers goes "is that your build out there?" and talk to them. Most LEDs would be fine if I had to hazard a guess, it's sort of one of those things where even between the more popular brands, there's not excruciating differences. Maybe if you invested in a full LED kit, I could see that possibly being better or worse, but check places like Summit Racing if you have one around you, 4X4 Wheel Parts, NAPA.
'96 Tacoma. Dad bought brand new in 1995, then I took it over when I moved to Utah which gave him the excuse to buy a new truck. I added the roof rack, tires, and softtopper. Pretty happy where shes at and she gets me through everything I throw at her.https://www.instagram.com/p/BBqYiWgPzjXUGOKDcfsnsdwztybg-rU25M0BIY0/
Haha not sure why it posted the same image so many times, but nah, the water in that channel was over my waist so didn't have my phone on me. Got winched out then towed back to the trailhead, that's the last I've seen of it - insurance wrote it off within 3 days and I got my payout so pretty happy with that. Water ended up past the steering wheel on the inside
Dude those wheels are sick on it! I'm super particular about wheels and how they have to make sense with the generation vehicle you're putting them on. Toyota had a factory wheel that looked so similar back in the day, so those wheels are a perfect match.
Gen 1s are the tits too. A guy who lived behind me had a white one with yellow orange and red original toyota decals on it. The thing never moved I really regret not putting an offer in on it.
Anyway gotta get the cap off that thing and get some topless bitches in the back seat!
My baby is an '88 YJ wrangler, with 51,000 original miles. 4.2 AMC with a 5 speed BA-10 (hoping to rebuild or replace with an AX-15) She's all show no go haha. Open diffs and stiff ass leaf springs don't get the job done off road. Her sole job is to drive on the beach on Nantucket (inb4 fuck you spoiled and rich. Not exactly, I'm just a tenement employee there in the summer).
-Lifted about 6 inches on a skyjacker lift
-33"x12.5" tires
-borla exhaust
-weber carb
I spray bombed the hard top tan, but this spring I'll be paint matching it to the rest of the vehicle which is Porsche Satin Black Metallic. I tinted the windows and windshield, but I'm gonna redo them a little darker. I want the car to give the appearance it will assault anyone who looks at it wrong.
Other vehicles:
2005 Outback XT, catless turboback exhaust and catless up pipe, stage 2 tune (ski mountain bomber and daily)
1995 Audi 90s (pizza delivery whip)
I could talk about cars all day but thats all I have for now unless called upon for questions.
