Cat skiing in BC

I would like to cat skiing with my sister this winter. We would like to hear your opinions on the best places in BC. We are both expert skier and the most important thing to us is terrain and snow. Of course it wouldn't hurt to know about what the lodge and commute is like at those places with the best terrain. Now what I mean by best terrain, to me, it is the terrain that is the most challenging and fun. We are looking to go for 4 days, and price isn't a huge issue to us. Thanks so much, and we are looking forward to hearing your opinions.

I have three places on my hitlist. They all have lodges, so no driving is required once you're there.

Mustang- Located between Revelstoke and Sicamous. Heard really good things about it. Probably the cheapset of the three.

Retallack- Located in the middle of nowhere, in the Kootenays. Quite the drive from anywhere, but gets some killer snowfall.

Chatter Creek- About 3hrs from Golden on the B road, but you can't drive the road in the winter. Access is by heli or sled only. Guests are heli'd in. Pricey, but a world-class establishment.

Retallack and Chatter are probably booked solid already, so maybe plan for next year.

For reference, I've skied Big Red, Powder Cowboy(RIP), and FWA.

I recommend Island Lake Lodge or Baldface Lodge. My best days ever have been at these two operations. Both amazing terrain.

Check Monashee Powdercats or Mustang. I have been to both and they are both amazing.

Lodge at Monashee is a little nicer than Mustang, both both are really nice

Cat skiing is so lame. U need to get a heli. Its awesome. I skied an intermediate heli run in Washington 3 winters ago for a day and it was so good. The snow was like 2 feet deep and I got to use powder skis for the first time ever

I only mentioned the lodge as the terrain is similar (really good at both places) and because sometimes that's what people base their decision on. To be honest I think you would be hard pressed to find an interior BC Cat ski Op that didn't have really good terrain.

Have you ever been cat skiing? From most people I have talked to they like Cat more than Heli. No down days, more friends, easier to scope stuff out with your guide. Also cats can push up epic pow booters in a matter of seconds!

i went to mustang two seasons ago and i can quite honestly say it was the best 3 days of my life. if snowed 30 inches the night we got there and didnt stop for 2 days. the cliffs and steeps where amazing in the trees but when it cracked blue and we were allowed above treeline i swear it was like skiing the steeps in alaska and the snow was literally perfect

You'll change your opinion once you go cat skiing.

It ain't like the movies son. Skiers ride cats. People that want their friends to know they went heli skiing ride helis.

Don't get me wrong, heli skiing is tons of fun; and I'd go back in heartbeat. But if I'm paying for it, I'm riding a cat.

Yeah, this guy knows what's up.

Baldface and Island Lake Lodge are really, really sick. From what I hear everything else aside from the skiing is pretty amazing.

I've lived in Nelson and skied Valhalla Powder cats. It was amazing. I think that terrain is going to be on point at just about every spot in interior BC. You're going to have a great trip.
