Best Camera For Filming a Good Edit

I have a GoPro hero 3+ right now and was looking for an upgrade this year. My go pro app on my phone takes 5 minutes just to pull up the video and another ten to download it in decent quality. Now with more and more phones being able to shoot 4K I was wondering if I should just buy a new phone because it is about the same quality shot and I would have my videos much faster. All suggestions are good suggestions and will get +Karma

I don't know how anyone expects to shoot video on a phone, then edit it on a phone, and not have it look like it was shot and edited on a phone.

The lens on a phone camera is probably a $3 piece of dubious quality plastic. I don't care if it has a 4K sensor behind it (yeaaaaah it might say that on the brochure but I bet you only 25% of the pixels are unique) all you're getting is retarded huge files.

I would much, much rather shoot on something like a 7D (or any, even rather ancient SLR) at 720p/60fps.

Filming in a higher quality won't produce a high quality product unless you use it right. That is why gopro can put out amazing edits while the majority of others who use gopros put out crap. If you film stuff on a new phone it will probably look just as crappy as on your gopro until you learn how to properly film and edit- so save your money (or your parent's money) or even better spend it on some film classes or something. I think there is a series on youtube where they have pro photographers using crappy point and shoot cameras, but they still make it work better than most others would.

If you want 4K you should buy panasonic gh4 og Sony a7 II, personally I film with glidecam hd2000 and 7D. Mainly because My computer can't Even handle 4K so ill have to upgrade before i eventually buy one of those^

Random food for thought...
Displaying 4k natively requires almost 9 million pixels.
A 1080p display has about 2 million pixels

If you're anything like me you tend to watch edits in a frame that is at most 1/3rd of the total screen, so we'll say 700000 pixels to be generous.

Therefore, native 720p footage, at approximately 920000 pixels, is sufficient for every single physical pixel in that frame to be unique, and any increase in recording resolution will not result in any increase in image quality under these viewing conditions...

I already have taken classes and know what i am doing I wouldn't waste my money if I didn't.

Would not recommend at all. They have to cut so many corners to be able to have a phone output 4k. Either save your pennies and buy a dslr or mirrorless like and a7s or just invest your time in cranking out the absolute best quality out of your gorpo.
