Passing time with a fractured skull

I recently fractured my skull skating I fucked up just on a dumb powerslide and slammed my skull. Now I cant skate, bike, run, ski, wake board, do any sports or lift weights, exercise or do anything for 6-8 weeks. I had to cancel my windells session 5 trip. Im already a little sick of xbox so how do i pass the time help me ns.

damn dude thats really shitty heal up and rest dude. get into a good tv series and binge watch, gameboy games, music, chill with friends. if you have editing software you could make some edits or film some homies shredding. sorry to play the role of dad but if you weren't wearing a helmet please do next time. i had a homie die from hitting urban not wearing a helmet.

Thanks dog I usually wear a helmet but was on a trip and forgot it so I was just going to chill but that changed a bit sorry about your homie that sounds sketchy as fuck

Im not sure about work outs with legs and shit but my doctor said no lifting weights because it puts pressure on your cranium

I'd see your doctor every week and see when you can start lifting and get mad legs. That, or read a bunch of books, or paint and create art.

I feel like it's super hard to wear a helmet skating because literally no one else does but it definitely protects you from some potentially horrible injuries and I have nothing but respect for those who wear one.

If you feel like being productive, grab a rosetta stone language program and learn another language. Thats what I did last time I got hurt. Learned to speak Japanese. I'm nowhere near fluent (and reading it is sooo much harder that speaking it) but I thought it was worthwhile. Rosetta Stone is actually a great program. If nothing else you'll at least feel like you accomplished something. Than you can freak your friends out, tell them that when you fractured your skull it unlocked something in your brain and now you can speak another language

Just broke my neck last week and im in the same position as you. Coming from somebody who just went through everything similar as you try to not beat your self up or think what you could have done differently to much. For me I did a front flip off a 60ft+ cliff for my first jump.... also my second time ever cliff jumping I realize I did something stupid but when you beat your self up for it it just makes you depressed...go off what you did wrong and learn from it. Try to find something active you can do... like check with your doctor, for me I cant do anything so im pretty much on house arrest but Im playing xbox, learning new stuff for editing and filming, doing kendama, watching tv, going on walks, watching funny and strange videos on youtube, on newschoolers constantly, and getting better at making food for my self. Add me on xbox "Crimsion" if you play 360 I bet we can find something to do. Sending you positive vibes man!! Life kicks you, throws you in the mud, breaks you, but humans are tough and we can recover, learn, and get back up from even the worst injury's... Heal soon man!

I didnt think for a moment.... I thought I would be fine because it was water and it would hurt if I fucked up but honestly I thought as long as I didn't hit the rocks i would be fine. It was stupid you are right and I guess I am lucky I didnt get more hurt. I wouldnt start calling people retards because if you dont take risks you will never get any where in life. This was a risk but it was a risk without thinking or planing its kinda like a kid who just learned 360s on skis and threw a backflip without throwing one on tramp. He didnt think and plan and thats just what I did and im learning off it. On skis I huck stuff without knowing how to do it properly but this will make me a better skier.

search the internet for random shit. this might sound boring af, trust me it wont get boring. research all sorts of things... idk try to build a snowmaker for next season. if i was in your situation i would look towards the future and try to think of positive things and not obsess about what you did wrong, that shit is terrible for you because it destroys your self-esteem and cause a shit ton of anxiety. you know what i challenge you to design the best snowmaker possible with a budget of $500-600, that includes paying for the air compressor, pressure washer, and the actual snow gun. hope you get well soon.

P.S. and if you are going to accept my challenge, please post pictures of progress parts and everything i would love to see how it goes!

Helps to ski with people better than you so you can watch them, copy them, or bail out on some feature or trick. Or just watch other people doing something.

I'm sure you'll have more fear now, which is good I suppose. I'm not sure exactly what happened to you, but FFS if you've broken your neck and now going on walks after a 60ft cliff wreck, that's a pretty good outcome to me. The other way to look at it is, no it won't make you a better skier if your body doesn't recover correctly. Then again, Danny Davis won superpipe after a lower spinal fusion and who knows if the accident helped him or has hindered him in the pipe.

Definitely read the shit out of some books and online content. Get educated on important topics and things that interest you. Depending on what you like, you could paint or build something. Discover a lot more music. Maybe learn some random new things like juggling or a language. There's a lot of great movies and shows out there. Write some stuff or learn to play an instrument. Get outside a lot and enjoy the summer sun. You could cook some challenging new meals, do work around your house or on your car. Organize all your shit or sell some stuff. Haha, best of luck bud!

For me it helps to ski with people my own ability or way better. If there better by just a little it makes me try harder and get hurt more. I dont think this will make me have more fear just think more. If i broke my neck skiing that would be a different story. If theirs any confusion I broke my neck doing a front flip into a deep river.....I didnt think I would 100% land it but I thought I would be fine cus i was landing into water. I dont think you understand fully what happened.... I fractured c5 virtibra on the front top so I can walk fine the back is where all the spine stuff can occur.I have a neck brace for now to be safe and keep it from making it worse and I cant do other activity's to be safe. I will have the brace for a week and a half after the accident and I will not be able to tramp for a little under two months. I will be able to do most activitys in 2 weeks and almost any in 2 months.

I had a cast on my arm for 6 months that went all the way to my shoulder, so I literally couldn't do shit. Fishing, skiing, filming, doing fun stuff was basically out the window. But after the realization came the clarity... You have no idea how nice it is to become a nerd temporarily. I built my own PC to play SNOW and other stuff on, and you can probably waste an entire lifespan on a computer before you get bored. I didn't play any shit leading up to the injury, and don't anymore, but that's unfortunately one of the best ways to make time fly by... By becoming a basement dweller.
