This woman Rachel Dolezal is making news. She's been forced to step down from whatever position she held because she's been identifying as black when really she's white.

There seems to be no 2 sides to this, it's practically unanimous that she's in the wrong for trying to pass off as black.

How do those justify shitting on this woman because she identifies as black when those same people agree that a man who thinks he's a woman is a woman?

Gender may be a social construct but there's still wiring of the brain that allows someone to identify as the opposite gender. There is zero part of the brain that dictates whether you can feel "black" because feeling black is just a social construct. Much like cornrows aren't any more biologically black than white but cornrows are a part of black culture. While race is a social construct it does derive from biological characteristics. Which differ from psychology characteristics like being transgender.

I bet everyone's brains are modeled differently. And as far as the articles you posted, personally the only one I care for is the MRI one and I can't even read the paper cause I don't have access. Needless to say I bet you don't either and posting stuff no one can access just because it has an abstract that supports your case isn't really a good way to go about supporting yourself. For me, it's the only one that relies on mostly data vs. asking people which is an awful source of information.

Also one of the papers that one of the articles references say they did a similar if not same kind of study to another paper in that group of links, but they found no significant differences in what they're looking at.

What I do want to know is what's with the 3T magnet, there's stronger ones than that by a longshot. Is 3T good for this or is that just a common strength MRI to have. That's an MRI technique I know nothing about.

Anyway everyone should chill with posting links to scientific papers especially since not everyone can access them. Plus unless you're a practicing scientist (I am - molecular bio, biochem, genetics, that kind of thing) then I don't think you're really qualified to speak about these papers. Just because you can read the results in the abstract and just because they say it's true doesn't mean it's true.

This whole trans-(insert characteristic) stuff certainly doe not have the volume of research behind it needed to say anything concrete.

Also lol at this lady. I guess we're going to have to start taking skin samples form 'black' people and doing some sort of analysis on them so we can determine who is 'black' and who is not. We're going to have to either measure pigment production or the genes controlling it or the proteins involved or something. or light transmittance through a thin section of skin or something. There's an ultramicrotome and a regular microtome where I work, maybe I'll cut some of my finger off and throw it in a photospec or prepare it for TEM just for the lolz.

Also see how stupid that sounds? It'd be fun to see that data that produces but that'd be a huge waste of time and money just so you can start dividing up people into colors.

You did nothing to back up your point.

It still stands: post some sources that prove your statement that someone can't have a mental illness that makes them legitimately think they are of a different race.

You state that there are neurological differences between gender but this is not so between races. Nor go look through studies done on genetic differences between races leading to neurological differences. There are hundreds of them.

Now again, why can't you accept that someone might legitimately think they are of a different race due to mental disorder and why they shouldn't be treated like we treat those who think they are a different gender due mental disorder?

No, the wiring in the brain says they think they're the opposite sex even though they aren't and can't be. Not thinking your the opposite gender. Gender is a social construct, it has nothing to do with actual biology. Nothing biologically marks you as a specific gender.

In science, "race" is a species of animal rather than an ethnicity. "Breed" would be a more accurate description for humans.

Genetics don't show "This person is black", but they do pass down traits that are passed down from their ancestors, and if those ancestor's have similar evolutionary traits, they combine to display themselves with what we know as "ethnicity."

This can be scientifically tracked by looking at the y-chromosomes and their much more subtle mutations. Since the Y is basically just a placeholder, it stay's with the x's that actually carry relevant genetic information, and can be used to create a genetic timeline. Which has been done in many different cases.

I doubt you'd understand this. Don't hurt yourself googling and trying to grasp it.

transracial is wrong because the person isn't actually identifying themselves as a different race but instead just wants to identify with the stereotypes that said race embodies. being a male is both physically and mentally different from being a female where being a black man or woman is literally the exact same thing as being a white man or woman with a different paint job. so she isn't longing for a new body to feel comfortable in she is longing for the (what she sees as) "coolness" associated with being black

I would say that ethnicity has its roots in a combination of many genetic traits that become more concentrated due to geography and social systems. Ethnicity was created from a self fulfilling prophecy that straddles genetics and culture.
