Replying to SIP Danny
So im not really sure if this should be in SG or NSG but I feel that I should let the rest of the skiing community know this. Last thursday, we lost one of the nicest people that there ever was in the history of snow sports. A friend of mine, Danny Klein, committed suicide by jumping from the Mid-Hudson Bridge to his death. He was the kindest soul but lived with Asperger's syndrome - which made his social life challenging but snowboarding was where he felt at home. He was a great snowboarder and I always loved taking the trip up to Mount Snow and lapping the park for the day. The mountain was his sanctuary and the place that he "fit in" the most. Although he was "different" from others, people were always nice to him and strived to be his friend, but, of course, there were the people that he bullied him in school. However, it was not the bullies that hurt him the most, it was the people that did not include him. He had plenty of good friends but not many great ones besides the people that he would shred with. He often felt isolated from the rest of the world at home because he was never really invited to any parties or get-togethers. But, he was often invited on ski trips because thats where he excelled socially. So, I guess a message to take away from this is to try to include others and get to know them, even if they are a little different. Shred in Peace Danny.
