So i am no tech wizard so i have to ask, why the fuck does anyone want an apple watch.
As i understand it, it is essentially a shittier version of the Iphone that had sex with a fitbit and calls itself a revolutionary new product. i just can't fathom why someone would buy a wrist iphone that only works if you have a regular iphone one your person at all times. is it too much work to just take your Iphone out of your pocket and check your texts and spend below several hundred dollars on a G-Shock.

what is the point?

I agree, sony, Samsung, and some other company I'm forgetting the name to already have this out. Apple is running and trying to catch up to its competitors.

There's a couple neat features I guess, but definitely nothing to justify spending twice the price of a subsidized iPhone on that thing.

I mean, cell phones kind of made watches obsolete. Not completely, but most people always have their cell phone so have a timepiece on your wrist is redundant. What are they gonna do next, put a coax jack on the iPhone so I can watch cable TV on it? Maybe an RJ25 jack for landline calls and a CD player too while they're at it.

Its the convenience/integration factor of it all. When you wear a fitbit, fuelband, etc and use your phones health app you have to sync all of it. Why pull your pone out of your pocket to read a text when you can just look at your wrist? Why pull your phone oout to snap a picture when you can use the camera ono your wrist? All of the tiny little things you do on your phone can be eliminated and expedited with the watch. Its going to be a lot more popular than most people expect.

My thought is that our society is so adjusted to checking our phone for the time; that even if you're wearing a smart watch, you will still check your phone for the time.

I have to admit that I'm personally guilty of doing this... Even with my Nixon 5130 on which is possibly one of the worlds heaviest watches.

While, I'm not about to go to the store and get me a fancy smart watch (or whatever the hell they are calling them), I do think that the days of the phone are nearing their end.

Give it a few years of development and the cell phone will become dated. Think something along the lines of hud glasses/smart watch combo with a interactive hologram style thing going on. Maybe even get rid of the glasses and do true hologram style shit off the watch.

Eventually we WILL be putting chips into our bodies, but technology aside, I don't think the general public is ready to trust that kind of shit (and hopefully it happens because of awesomeness and not government fear tactics).
