Backflips
So I can do backflips pretty well on a trampoline and into the pool and did some backflips on my skis into the airbag. The jump to the bag was a realistic one also (the guy who built it didn't know what he was doing so he didn't make it super poppy) which should help me. My question is though is that I still need to fix some things in the backflip, like waiting on the take off and popping a tad more straight rather than straight back and I need to get my head back. So should I build a jump in some soft snow and try it on that until I feel comfortable or should I try it on a park jump?.
When I tried my first ones I just sent it on a regular park jump that I was comfortable with. I only had done some on trampolines before, no bag jumps or anything. If you commit, you won't land on your head so then whatever does happen when you land will be fine

If you feel like you can do it on a park jump send it, if you feel like you could use more practice you can go back to the air bag or a jump into some soft snow

I've watched this video a few times it's really tricky to get the pop right and everything when it's your first time a feel because your natural instinct from nerves just makes you want to huck it around.

my best advice is to pop with the jump. presuming you will be on a pretty small jump start your pop at the base and finish at the lip (popping for a backflip) and i promise if you commit you will be fine. honestly just huck it and dont worry about the soft landing worst case you catch your tips and faceplant, bite your tongue, shake it off, and do it again. I would reccomend this as opposed to hucking it fast as fuck because thats just not how you learn

Thanks man I got them pretty good into the airbag and the jump into was like an actual park jump not like a really poppy one so I think I might go for it next time I head out. I do pop though I'm just not super patient on the take off like I start the pop going up and then pop but it's a little early. I feel once I get comfortable and start getting them around I'll naturally start making them better similar to when I learned 360s at first they were bad and I didn't have the proper technique, now I'm really comfortable with them!
Landed my first a few weeks ago and havn't stopped since. The same shit everyone says man- they're not as scary as you think. If you've done them on tramps and into an air bag then you KNOW you'll get around. So landing on your head is out. Just pop and do your thing. You'll see the knuckle come round quick and you'll know to bring your feet around. And it will be the greatest feeling ever. And then you'll be ready for gaper/closing day. BACKFLIP EVERYTHING
I tried into powder on a small poppy jump and then on a small like 20 footer I was comfortable with and it's defenitly a lot easier than you'd think just scary at first
If you can backflip not on skis, tramp, diving board, water, etc. then you can do it on skis. It is simpler than you think, just go for it and don't concentrate to hard. Imagine yourself landing it. Don't worry, we are here for ya..
