Kick turn to switch?

I was skiing Saturday and I was some guy do like a kick turn, the kind you would do while skining, from skiing normal to skiing switch. It wasn't a real kick turn, it was kinda sorta one though. He picked his foot up, crossed behind his other leg, and turned it around, and put it down while kinda jumping and spinning around. He had flat tails, too. ( like wtf?) What is this thing he did? it looked like something out of a ski ballet, and he dressed like he was in one, too. What's it called? Is it steezy?

I know that its a real thing, i was wondering what the kick turn to switch was. it was the weirdest way to get to riding switch. i've seen turning and jumping, but never a kick turn thing.

I kick turn is a move used to turn up hill in a switchback whilst skinning uphill. The dude I saw was skiing normal, downhill, and then did a kick turn type thing 180 degrees, so that he ended up skiing switch. Sorry for not being more clear.

Weird. I can't picture it in the way you are describing.

Was it a tip drag 180? (which is super easy and kinda common)

i couldn't even begin to describe them with words but theres a ton of funky ways to spin around on the snow in ski ballet.

I've heard it called a "Royal Christie", or at least something similar.

Closest I could find on Youtube is this guy eating heaps copious shit while attempting one at high speed:

He almost does something similar in the opening of half cash. But in the ender, if he had turned his ski around, and then kind did a sex change. Its hard to describe, and the guy did it quick, and once. Oddly, he was riding flat tails and ended up skiing switch for like 100 feet. I saw it on my way to the lift.

i think i might know what youre talking about. i do them when im in a tight spot and need to be facing the opposite direction. i have no idea how he would do that with non twintips and at some amount of speed. hahaha holy cow

a royal christie is just a turn with your outside ski lifted off the ground. theyre good training, they force you to pressure your shins into you're boot, and they help if you ever get into a sketchy situation were you have to ski out of a turn with your inside ski only. one way I've seen to spin on the ground is kind of like a combination of a caribou and a screaming seamen. hard to describe without a vid though.
