That's not even close to a delam it's just sidewall and topsheet chipping and I'm sure that's not a manufacturing defect that needs to be warrantied it's you hitting your skis together doing tricks and whatnot.
Use some ptex or something like that and fill it in. Epoxy maybe? I'm sure someone else knows exactly what to use. G flex epoxy maybe.
SessionThats not delam, that's you're fucking hack and can't ski.
ok thats just rude. stuff happens, you wreck, ect. but for op yea its just a pretty good sidewall and topsheet ding. i would bevel the topsheets with a palm sander and just put some epoxy/glue on there and it will be ok. i have a couple of these on my other skis and i did what i just told you to do, and havent had any poroblems.

This is good advice.
Not really bad at all, if you are skiing lots of park I wouldn't even bother doing anything about it to be honest. If you really want to do something about it just smooth it out with some sand paper and then get a good marine grade epoxy. Don't use a quick drying epoxy or cheap general use epoxy because it's not flexible enough and will just crack or come off.
lakserCool thanks.
pretty sure it happend while on one of those ski racks that attach to the spare tire of a jeep wrangler.
It happened because you smash your skis together when you ski.
And I'm staggered you thought that would be a warranty. Except Backcountry, because they're awesome, would probably swap them out anyway, but it would make you a gigantic douche-nozzle for abusing their good will.

really, staggered??
That I think it could be covered under warranty?
I have skied exactly 9 days on these and I have never had this happen to any skis in that amount of time.
I spoke to a customer service rep at backcountry and strait up told him I don't want to abuse their good faith by submitting warranty. he looked at the pictures and said it would be close but they would have to see what Nordica wants to do.
Its not backcountry thats going to cover them, its Nordica.
Either way I don't think its completely unreasonable, and the worst they could do is say its not covered. and I repair them.
I almost guarantee plenty of people on this forum have submitted there skis for warranty after knowing pretty well they abused the hell out of them for almost a whole season.
anyhow, thanks for your completely unhelpful response.
lakserits possible it happened when skiing. I am not ruling that out.
however, this was not on a typical ski rack.
It was one of those jeep ski racks that go on the back of the spare tire.
The chip is exactly where debris could have come off the back tire and hit the tale of the ski.
So first you try to blame the manufacturer, then you try to blame some pretty incredibly unlikely scenario involving your ski rack (what sort of debris do you suggest did that? Do you recall running over a collection of silverware or cutting implements?)
It's because at some point when you were skiing you have chopped the tails of your skis together, with one sliding over the other. Maybe on a crash, maybe on a spin, or maybe just if you ski like an 80's weenie with your knees together and your skis 1" apart. I don't know. But yes, I am entirely surprised that you think this could be anything at all other than your own fault, and that you bothered to waste somebody at Backcountry's time by making them go off and investigate whether "I fucked up" is a valid warranty claim reason. Do you think their time is free?

absolutely not. I showed the rep the pictures before I submitted the claim and explain to him the situation.
I told him strait up I would not submit the warranty if he didn't think I should. He told me to go ahead and send the pictures in.
I still think the ski rack scenario is likely. the car was driving for 4 hours above 60 mph.
at one point we were behind a truck getting all sorts of salt and other types of road debris flung at us.
either way i guess it doesn't matter and we can kill this thread.
everyone knows I am the best skier on the mountain anyway.

I can guarantee that was caused by your skis' steel edges, not a tire. And your skis shouldn't get hit by road debris if they're on the back of your car. Just sand it off and you'll be fine.
I don't see why you have you panties in a twist.
It's a top sheet chip.
They're skis not fine china.
The chances of you noticing any performance difference is

The chances of you noticing any performance difference is less than 1%.
"Fixing" them is super easy.
Sand, epoxy, smooth, and they're good as new.
Warranty? Lololololol. Its a little topsheet/sidewall chipping. If you had ever been off the magic carpet on the bunny hill before this would have happened to all of your other skis as well
