JayDopeWhat's up man, I spoke you at the shop, the only reason I would say not to go 186 is because well skiing glades on the east coast its almost always super tight, so the 179 would be where I'd put you on, like I showed you at the shop, sick day 95, or supernatural 92 (regular) slightly stiffer than the lite, and as stated above where they said they measured short, the sin 7 we had at the shop in a 180 would ski way shorter than the supernatural or the sick day because of the amount of rocker it has to it. A few other skis I would suggest would be the volkl bridge or atomic theory, but like you said you don't want a twin, all of them are great free ride skis, let me know if I can help you out anymore and if we need to, we can always order you a size or a specific ski
Listen to this guy ^^^^^.
I'm 150lbs 5'9" and ski the Sick Day 95 and the Supernatural 92, eastern skiing, glades, ice, etc. Our glades are tight, a long ie. 186 Supernatural in eastern glades is too long.
Here's the scoop:
Sick Day is an amazing ski for all around skiing. 179cm for me is the perfect length, it's stable at speed, very maneuverable in the trees and adequate in smaller storms.
Supernatural LITE no metal ski I would ski in the 179cm, it does not feel like the natural w/metal, it's a compliant ski more suited to bumps and tight trees as it's more flexy and poppy, has no vibration dampening.
Supernatural with metal is strictly a groomer ski, it rips, and it rips. I tried both the 179 and 172 and opted for the 172, this ski can handle all but the utmost fastest all out speed, so it's a compromise I made for maneuvering in tight spots, bumps, etc. This ski has a longer effective edge, it GRIPS and RIPS the snow, feels like suction cups are sucking you to the snow. There is very little pop as compared to the SD because this ski has so much vibration dampening. This ski plows through crud, you won't know it's there, over frozen golf balls.
Hope that helps.
