Bought this on ebay. Intuition liner toe area has small vertical slices? WAH?

Bought some old full tilts on ebay. Supposedly unused. Everything looked good until i removed the liner and saw 2 vertical slices near the big toe area (see picture below). The slices are cut all the way through. I thought this was a defect at first. After calling up some ski shops, they said some people do this to allow the toe area to expand wider after molding. And you could even just put duct tape over it if you don't want it.

Still seems kinda suspect. Wanted to see if anyone has tried this or have seen others try this before? I'm mainly worried that the toe would just keep splitting further and further.

Yes, cutting liners is a way to get more space in a certain area and it looks like this is what was done, crapily unfortunately. You can always mold more toe space in an Intuition liner (provided the shell is also punched in that area) and that should be done before cutting. With traditional liners, sometimes you have to cut the material, but not necessarily all the way through it.

If the cuts go all the way through, chances are you will be cold and/or get wet and the cuts could keep splitting. Duct tape will help, but not fully.

I think i'm just gonna give it a shot. I've gotten feedback from elsewhere that this might be okay.

I'll probably tape it together for the mold to hold it together and then glue the gap after the mold.

I heard aquaseal and a bit of stitching might be good for sealing up something like this.

Idk man but if onenerdykid said it wont work that well.... It probably wont work that well but obviously you have your mind set on making it work so thanks for the useless thread....

Put a couple dots of glue along it then sew it up before the glue dries....should be sealed pretty good.

That really sucks. Try to get it refunded or returned. I recently bought some skis from Ebay only to find out the skis were mounted backwards. So I sent em back and was able to get a refund because the item was not as described.

The price of the boot was really good even if it was just for the shell. The rest of the boot does actually looked unused. Plus I didn't notice too many size 25.5's being sold too.
