I have the 12/13 booters (FTI shell, flex 5 tongues). Craving a little stiffer, more responsive ride, I ordered the flex 7 tongues off FT's site. Upon receiving them and comparing them to the tongues that are currently on the boots, there seems to be zero difference between the 5 and 7 tongue. They seem to take the same amount of force to flex by hand and when attached to the boot, they are still as soft and noodley as before with the flex 5. The plastic on the tongues also seems to be of identical hardness, thickness, and shape.
Am I missing something? what makes the tongues different? Is the difference in flex too small to feel? Does FT just pump out tons of the same tongue and print different flex numbers on them to make money?
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thanks.
